Hi, I have had my new truck for only a short time and I have had all 8 injectors replaced about 8 weeks ago at no cost to me. I have a new problem now. It surges at idle when in park or drive only and i have just noticed that some blue smoke comes out of the pipe when I first start the truck and on acceleration for the first 10-15 min then it goes away. I just did a oil/filter and fuel filter change. I just changed to Rotela T oil. Would changing oil type make it use more oil and cause blue smoke ? Could all this be caused by a bad fpr ?

As you note, I'd look at the fuel pressure regulator.

We have a 01 with 260,000 and same problem. My guess is that you combine worn injectors that have a poor spray pattern (too course), with the decrease in compression from the high miles, you get smoke at idle. Once you increase the RPM the added heat in the cylinder can now bun the fuel that the injector is spraying and the smoke goes away.

blue smoke is oil burning, if it does this after idle, I would check to see if this is a turbo seal issue

Idle Surge---I have this same problem and was told it was the govenor was starting to wear down. Is this a possibility? It seems to me that is worse when the truck is in drive. I have been debating on having the injectors replaced again?
