I have the juice/attitude on a new duramax. When I go wot in level 1 or 2 the egt's drop to around 450. Normal driving they are around 750-850. Is this normal or do I have a problem with my egt?

Your EGT probe sounds baked, or you have an issue with the connections. Your EGTs should climb, not decrease under WOT.

I checked my connections and everything seems good. I pulled the probe and everything looks ok as well. I wouldn't think the probe would be baked because I only have about 100 miles on it. I drove it again and even with moderate acceleration the egt's drop down. I am really confused. Any other suggestions? Please help.
Thanks,
Mick

the probe is baked.................I am on my second one. Its an electrical component, they can go bad right out of the box.

Yup, me too. I am on my second probe for the HJAT. I just wish I had not replaced it with a stupid fast probe from Kennedy because now I can watch it peg 2000 degrees in a few seconds.

thanks a lot for the replies. I don't think mine ever worked right out of the box. Does edge replace the probe or do you have to buy a new one. Is there a better probe to get that isn't as likely to have this happen?

thanks again,
Mick

Mine was bad out of the box, call Cody @ Edge and he will send you a new one. he will probably tell you to check the Ohm's. The Ohm's should read between 1 and 3, mine pegged out immidiatley.

Customer service is great at Edge

Of all the Isspro and Hewitt probes that I have sold, I very seldom ever see one go bad. The early Edge ones were made by EGT. Later ones Hewitt. You can tell the Hewitt probes by the stainless braid and 90° "kink" vs the coil spring strain relief on the EGT units.
