truck ran for 30 seconds then quit. oil was leaking from blue filter on passenger side. white thing on bottom has 2 wires. is that the water seperator. does anyone know why that would cause it to stall. tighened down white thing to stop leak and tried to start truck still no go. thanks for any help. 06 cc lbz 10k

Sounds like your fuel filter was leaking and you lost prime. Loosen the bleeder screw on top of the filter housing and pump the hand pump until fuel comes out, then tighten the bleeder and pump until you can't pump any more.

Yes the thing with two wires is the water seperator, they can be overtightened and break the housing or if loose they can cause it to lose prime. Also know of a few cases where oring has been defective either on the bleed screw(in the seperator) or the oring in the housing.

the white plastic piece was not even hand tight. i tightened it down and then bleed it. it started up after some cranking. im going to bring it back to the shop that changed it. thanks for the help.

Also, it is not that big a deal to change the filter yourself. In some cases folks prefer to pull the battery for more access, NAPA carries the filter (made by WIX) I have been using these filters for the last 6 years with great results.
