Hey guys, im new to the list and new to diesels. I was replacing the glow plugs in my 89 6.2L and the glow plugs came out real easy (ive heard of some horror stories trying to get those out). Im running into a problem on the installation side of things. The old plugs were 9G and im replacing them with the 60G. The threads look exactly the same, but when I go to install the 60Gs they only go in about 1/3 of the way. Im worried that im crossthreading them so I dont want to torque it any further. I torqued it to spec and started it up and it ran great. Im worried that these could blow out due to the high pressure created, then Id really be hurting. Anyone have any tips on how to get the glow plugs installed all the way? or is this the normal thing that happens?

Thanks!
Mick

I am glad you are using the 60G's as the older one can mushroom and then you have a real problem.

Try putting some anti-sieze compound on the threads. The threads are the same so if the old ones came out then the new ones should go in okay. Just don't strip the threads.
