They are pretty sticky as to what they will cover in the specail policey. Did you set any codes or did the crank case fill up with diesel. Where are you located. I would try and find another dealer.

The special policy is very specific about what kind of failure is covered, not all types of injector failures are covered.

I had one the other day that was not covered under the special policy. My service manager called our GM Rep. and he said they would cover up to 4 injectors on the side with the injector problem. If the injector is stuck open or partially stuck open which sounds like what is wrong with your injector it is not covered under the special policy. they should call thier GM rep for assistance.

Do you have a GM Rep name and phone number.
I'm still trying to get my $4700 back.

Modified what a bummer all I can say is I felt that it was time for me to be a hard @$$ and bully them. I went to guns but not all guns were pulled I still kept my cool. I had a 2000 GMC gas with those firestone tires that were recalled and I tried to be nice and got no where. I finaly kinda lost my cool and blew up at the guy that sold me the truck in the show room at a very large dealership I mean they were just short of having me arested. They did however put a new set of tires on it for free right away.I am not saying to go outa control but be FIRM and CONFIDENT!! Know what you are talkin about do a little homework and do not be afraid to walk into the shop and tell the tech you want to know how he ran the tests. I hope you get your money back out of them you may have to file in small claims but watch out for the Law that only gives you so much time to file. Good luck Don (still might trade it for a Dodge)

Reguardless what the actual reason that it needs injectors, if it was on my hoist I would just cover it. The customer feels alot better afterwards. The General knows that there is a problem with the injectors. The Generral isn't standing right beside you when you are doing the job, just tell him what he wants to hear and get the job done and the customer back one the road.

Had the same smoking problem since November, been waiting to see if "new" injectors were coming out but that doesn't seem to be happening. Went to dealer and explained that I realized this problem was not covered under warranty but could they help me out. (Have good relations with this dealer, injectors replaced twice before) They said they would have to check with manager who was on vacation, then they said he had to check with regional guy etc. etc. Stopped at dealer the other day, found parking spot right in front of service desk and left the truck running. Walked in the door and everyone is at the window watching the smoke screen! Next words were "hey we've got to fix that". They ordered the injectors that day and fixed the truck the next week and gave me a loaner car!! Total cost to me...ZERO!!!! Very cool dealer, can't wait for the customer satisfaction survey. My next step would have been to fill the crankcase with fuel and go back. At 174,000 miles I think this is the last time for free injectors.

Just a quick comment. What if the general decided to look at these injectors you covered under warranty and found the defect with them should not have been covered under warranty. This means your dealer is going to be charged back for the parts and labor. At this point the customers surely will not pay for them. It sounds like a good way to get fired to me.

Both of you are right. One of the dealers in our area have been trying to help people with this problem, and just got charged back for a set of injectors. All I can say is it was a bad deal. But the customer is back on the road, and no matter what will remember the guys that took care of him.

a good dealer can get around any policy if they want to.
