Hey,
Looking for a real fire engine horn. Have two sets of hadley triple train horns but need something with a bit more bite. Had a fire truck behind me with the radio at 3/4 and heard him just fine.Anybody got any ideas?

Your best bet would be to go to a firefighters equipment supplier. They have all kinds of things. I don't know where you're located but you should be able to talk to your local firehouse and find out where they get their stuff. A lot of horns they use nowadays I believe is electronic loudspeaker. . . someone else will correct me if I'm wrong on that one. . . but I'm sure they're much cheaper than the wind-ups.

This is a Groover Fire Truck Horn. Got it from Groover in California. I do not think they will sell to general public because this is classified as emergency equip.

You can go to a Freightliner dealer and see if you can get one. American LaFrance is owned by them. Also FMC made firetrucks also. The department I work for has a FMC tanker and the cab is the same as the trash trucks they use to make. It also has the best set of horns in the department.

No doubt about it, chevmeister. You can even go with a K3LA, if you don't want to shell out the big dollars for a 5. The threes sound awesome, at about half the price. . . e-bay selling them all the time.

Dan,
Everything for the Ambassador horns came with the kit, except the mounting brackets. . . my landlord made me those out of stainless from his shop. . . free the best price. All told the Hadleys cost me around 320. . . plus I bought a wiring harness and a couple different switches to do them a little different than they way they wanted. . .

IMHO I think a properly tuned Nathan K3LA sounds nicer than the K5. Either of these need A LOT OF VOLUME OF AIR!!!!

I'll be running the same setup as hoot. . . he seems to have no problem with volume of air. . . :ro)
