: Underhood Lamp install?
Gruffid 11-19-2004, 06:05 PM Does anyone have any really good ideas on how to mount the underhood lamp? I'm sure most of you know the '03 and '04 models don't have them, and I've purchased one. I just don't know how to install it. Can someone help me out?http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/smiley5.gif
Thanks,
JT
gearhead 11-20-2004, 12:24 PM I just mounted a retractable light from a 95 silverado to a cross support on bottom side of hood
baimpala 11-20-2004, 12:26 PM There weren't any instructions with the thing? Seems odd. . .

Jim659 11-20-2004, 01:30 PM Where did you get the light kit?
Gruffid 11-20-2004, 06:49 PM I bought it from GMDieseltech.com. I bought several items from him. None of which came with any instructions. However, most of them have been covered in the "do it yourself" area. This is not one of them.
SaguaroKid 11-20-2004, 07:15 PM Same thing for me too. I haven't got around to figuring it out yet. Looks like it should snap in to a slot somewhere or something. Be nice to know where.
baimpala 11-20-2004, 07:21 PM I thought you had to trim a little of the hood liner, and there was a mount for it, just where they used to be mounted. Trick is knowing where that is. Eric where are you?!?!?! :)
socal LLy 11-21-2004, 03:34 AM this might help http://dieselplace.com/forum/showthread.php?t=10849&highlight=hood+light
Gruffid 11-21-2004, 11:18 AM Well, that link was close, but no cigar. The light I have was the "non-reel" type. It has a compression clip on it (like the battery cover on your TV remote control). I suppose I could run some bailing wire to get it to stay, but I was looking for more of a professional looking install.
Thanks,
JT
baimpala 11-21-2004, 11:56 AM I guess Dmaxallitech still hasn't seen this. PM him and he'll be able to help you out.

dmaxalliTech 11-21-2004, 06:36 PM sorry, just seen this...
For the install, Lower your hood liner down on the drivers side, towards the back edge of the hood, you'll see a cut out in the hood sheet metal for the lamp to snap into. Trim the liner and it snaps in place. As for wiring it, hook it up to power and ground.
I have alot of things to put instructions togather for, but you guys keep wanting transmissions and thats takes away from instruction time.. and forum time.. and two kids... and an E-commerce site... and a 50+ hour a week full time job... and a .......
DavesDmax 11-21-2004, 07:07 PM You'll get to it when you get to it Eric.
Well guys, are those reel lights worth getting?
Will they work as well as a good flashlight?
Gruffid 11-21-2004, 09:45 PM Thanks Eric, I'll have to get to it tomorrow night.

baimpala 11-21-2004, 11:29 PM Gruffid,
If you can, take a few pictures as you go along, so others won't have the same problem. . .

gearhead 11-22-2004, 09:04 AM You'll get to it when you get to it Eric.

the reel lights have a magnet on them so you can stick it where you want to and you don't have to hold it
dmaxalliTech 11-23-2004, 12:13 AM gruffid, I sent you an email that should help a bit too...
Gruffid 11-24-2004, 07:15 PM BAImpala, good idea. I'll see what I can do.
Gruffid 11-24-2004, 07:15 PM Thanks DMax, I received the E-mail. I just have to "make it happen".
