I think my 08 just did it today. when it does can you smell a kinda lighter fluid smell coming out the exhaust. Also the mpg fell to 14 from 18. is the way its going to be every 1000 miles?

I had mine drop from 16 to 9.8 during regen on the freeway, I would guess that's how it's going to be.

They say that the truck will go into regen once every tankful. Also, the truck does smell alot more like diesel exhaust when the truck is in regen.

How long does it take for your fuel milage to return to normal?

from what i have experienced the regen takes 10 - 15 miles @ highway speed...then your mileage will return to normal. Not sure if it happens every tankfull but you can tell its happening when the avg mpg drops.

When I pulled in the driveway today my LMM, which has almost 3000 miles on it, was smoking so bad I almost couldn't see to back up and the diesel smell was so bad in the truck that we could barely stand it. I figured it was in regen so I pulled back out and went around the block. It finally quit smoking and now it's running normal. Is this something I can expect every so often or does it need to go back to the dealer?

Ive got about 2,000 miles on my 08 and I have never seen any smoke like what you are describing. Even in regen, I havnt ever noticed anything that bad.

Plus, should ONLY go into regen once at crusing speeds 30MPH and above. Shouldnt be going into regen out of your drive way...

The smell is usually not quite that bad either. Unless other guys are having this issue, you may want to consider having the dealership check it out while you still have that nice new truck warranty.

Dragon it looks like you have a reason to visit the dealer for a warranty checkup. Regen produces lots of CO2 but no smoke.

Thanks for the responses, guess I can have them replace the leaking rear axle seal too
Also, is there a dash light or anything that lets you know it's in regen?

No light, but you should NOT have any smoke at all! Mine will go into regen while driving and keep going until it's done. When it's parked, the idle raises to about 800-850 from its normal 600-650. That's the ONLY way I know what she's doing. My mileage drops a little, but not too bad. I've had a running average of 19.9 since i bought it a month ago. I'd have the smoking checked out...no good. Good luck.
