: Dealer says no TRANSYND ?
I asked my wife to stop at the dealers and see if they carried Transyend. They told her that they could get it but they wouldn't recommend using it in an automatic transmission. The owners manual only lists transyend for manual transmissions. Thay also said it could void the warranty. I'm going to see them tomorrow armed with the Allison web sites FAQ section that says it's ok to use. I don't think the dealer know's what they're talking about. Anyone seen anyplace GM has okay'd transyend or hear of any warrantee issues.
Thanks
Also wondering if there's only one transyend or is there different grades or something? Edited by: RMAX

dmaxalliTech 11-18-2004, 10:45 PM Dealer would be incorrect. Besides, they cant void the warranty becuase you are using a Dex III fluid or equivelent. The Transynd is an equivelent.
chipper 11-19-2004, 11:12 AM You have to buy it from a Detroit/Allison dealer.
dmaxalliTech 11-19-2004, 11:48 AM its avail on www.gmdieseltech.com (http://www.gmdieseltech.com) as well if you cant find a local source
Picked up 5 gal. at an Allison dealer today. Guy there was very helpful (naturally, he's selling, I'm buying) He said running Transyend may actually be in my favor if I had a warranty issue. I'm surprised the GM dealer was so misinformed.
THanks
CheVet 11-21-2004, 11:38 AM The allison dealer I bought my Transynd at told me it would double my warranty if put in within the first year, gave me a form to fill out. Also, my tranny temp runs at least 3040 degrees cooler so makes sense that it should extend the warranty.
Max Owner 11-21-2004, 05:28 PM Seeing how this one goes...

I dont buy that.. Starters, GM wont do it or they would use Transynd in the first place. Second, Allison shops cannot perform warranty on light duty GM trucks with the Allison...
Used Hoot's method (didn't do the bigger pan) and changed out the transfer at the same time. It's a messy operation but all went well & I don't have to worry about changing them again for a while. Thanks fot all the input especially the play by play by Hoot
JJs DuMax 11-23-2004, 01:49 PM CheVet, I'm with DMaxTech on the warranty issue. Maybe in other brands of trucks with the 1000 series tranny, but they are clear they have nothing to do with GM's warranty on their light duty trucks.
BTW, I heard the same line from a stealership here in J'ville about transynd, they were full of crap. They actually had a regional GM rep on-site that day and he stated it would void my warranty as well. It amazes me just how uninformed the service departments and their staffs are on the DMax and Ally. I found a dealership that switched me to transynd with a deep pan. Unlike one of the previous posters I haven't seen any drops in tranny temps, just longer to heat up. JJ

REALLY? Then why the form FROM the Allison shop to extend the warranty if they don't do the work? It's an Allison, why wouldn't an Allison shop work on it?
2fast2 11-24-2004, 08:20 PM Allison sells these transmissions to GM without a warranty and GM provides the warranty. If you buy a replacement transmission from Allison, it will have an Allison warranty. This was explained to me by the folks at the Allison shop in Charlotte.
Mike L. 11-24-2004, 10:24 PM The big problem is; Allison assembles the trans incorrectly for what we want out of it. They could do it right, but they are not interested. This assembly would require no additional parts. Torque converter engineering leaves a lot to be desired. Converter as they are produced today only use 30% of clutch area. C1 clutch uses 50% of area, and C2 uses 50% of area. Now add the overprotective TCM and this huge trans can become a big ***** that can and has imploded. It doesn't have to be this way. Go figure.

dmaxalliTech 11-25-2004, 10:33 PM just like the NSBU switch that Allison specs out (TAN) and GM wont use it from new cause its too much money.
Or the shallow sump pan that was installed on these for GM's use.
Or the addition of the park pawl for GM's use..ok, thats important, but Allison 2k and 2400 dont have it...
