I got this in a PM from a new member FBI is his user ID :welcome2: pertinent enough that I thought I'd share.
HI men :D I from chile
I have 2 litle question,
1 .What is Difference in a truck with the 6.5 TD that it's 1500 or 2500 ?
2. Where can I find The plastic that is the ''1500,2500 logo''...here's a photo:http://www.sixfiveturbodiesel.com/im...ine=1187922176 (http://www.sixfiveturbodiesel.com/image.php?u=64&dateline=1187922176)
thanks, Francisco :)
Here goes, guys feel free to add in any thing I forgot
1st you have C1500, C2500, C3500 which is a 2 wheel drive 1/2 ton, 3/4 ton, or a 1 ton rated bed capacity vehicle
2nd similarly is the K1500, K2500, K3500 same rating but 4x4 (K) vs (C)
1500 series are considered to be a light vs heavy duty vehicle in stock form, the 1500s have less substantial frame, lower axle rating, less braking ability, less load carry see this post http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/showthread.php?t=180449 for factory ratings.
The 1500 as a light duty truck also 6 lugs vs 8 and are considered to be a mostly passenger duty vehicle and as such have to conform to passenger vehicle emission output so also are L56 S coded engines (8th digit of your VIN). That said there are also some 2500 series trucks depending where destination for sale was; may be also equipped with L56, those would be places like California with strict emissions requirements and those are a "light duty" 3/4 ton truck may have 6 or 8 lugs it gets sort of grey fuzzy with identifying these, seem to be a lot of those in Canada.
RPO code list in your glovebox compared to one in our FAQ area http://dieselplace.com/forum/showthread.php?t=9676 will tell you what equipment yours came with as ordered from the factory. Now throw in the C1500 Suburban/Tahoe it gets really fuzzy, those have 8 lugs on the wheel have all HD braking equipment/frame and may be S or F vin code; so back to easier stuff.
L65 F (8th digit of VIN) is considered to be the HD engine version, same engine as the S mechanically basically, Fs do not have EGR intake or valve, F heads have injector precup openings slightly larger than the S, and controls wise the PCM on DS-4 IP equipped the S limits max factory delivery to 56mm vs 63 for the F, the F also has a slightly better boost schedule, also I believe F has slightly different trans shift points for the auto trans.
Also most 1500s come with 6 lug semi-float axle and generally open carrirers, 2500-3500 single wheel 8 bolt axles are full floaters, and probably have the G80 limited slip option. Dually 3500s are the ones with 4 rear wheels on the axle 2 per side, most always 4:10 ratio for more pulling power at the wheel. 2500-3500 have stiffer springs/farame s as indicated earlier again RPO code list is best to try to determine what you have, once you find that add it to your signature line.
As for where to get badges, for exact badges GM would be the source for that, we don't know what you have in Chile for dealer resources, if you want factory badges let me know in PM what your needs are & I'll see what I can do I have to work sometimes in Chile myself & could possibly hand carry to a post office in Chile. Also you may want to check on ebay, I've see where in past there have been listings for those.
Hope this helps; guys n gals again add anything left out as we will add this to stickies as well
