Has anyone ever put one of the B&M Shift kits in their tranny?

I have the 4L80e.I see where you can install either the RV/Towing kit or the harder shifting street/strip kit.

I was thinking of installing the RV/Towing kit.It has firmer/quicker
shifts than stock.guy at the counter told me that the kit would extend
my tranny life even though it is hifting much faster and harder than
stock.Said that it cuts down on clutch slip and temp????

Just wondering what yalls thought's were on this before i install one...

Thanks

when i got mine i don't think that there were two to choose from. mine was called a shift-plus. it's pretty sweet, it revs higher before shifting then grabs those little bastard gears pretty hard. you get three settings one of which is stock or "off" and the next two are in increasing firmness. i don't tow a really big trailer (5x10) so sometimes i use the middle setting. i use the firmest setting mostly for embarrassing fart-pipe hondas at stop lights.

I run B&M shift body,

Comes with 2 configurations race or tow I run the tow kit, much better shifting, B&M recommends the body over the electronic shift module, only drawback once installed not reverseable with out buying new body, you have to drill out passages for more flow

The shift body is the one im looking at...So let me see if i have this
straight.I can set it up for towing and then if i choose i can change
it to street/strip but can go back to normal of tow after that.I am not
sure which setting i will choose yet.How much harder are the shifts on
the street/strip vs the tow/rv install. How much over stock.I had one in
my gasse but im not sure what setting it was since i didnt install
it..when you punched the gas the tires would chrip loud going from 1-2
and sometimes 2-3 shift...

Also im pretty mech inclined but have never so much as pulled the pan
of a auto tranny. How difficult is this? How much time do you think it
should take.Does the B&M kit come with everything such as drill
bit,gasket,filter,ect?

Thanks for all the input.

No,

Once it's installed it's one way or other and you don't undo it without part replacement, the electronic module is selectable but according to B&M not as effective as the body, also may throw codes.

I had mine drop shipped to my tranny builder I had it done when upgrading to HD clutch packs; so I did not see what was in the kit. Call B&M and talk to their tech people what is in the kit and difficulty level from what I recall not really that tough to do, but if you have any doubt, take to a competent tranny shop and have it done should not cost too much, you are probably due for a filter change/flush anyway.Edited by: Turbine Doc

i put the towing shift body in my old truck, 95 1500 with 350. was ok, hated 1st to 2nd. took a couple of hours. drop pan, wait for fluid to drain, remove valve body, place template over body, drill new holes, change a spring and some other things and bolt it back up and your done. messy as hell though. i have an electronic shiftplus in my 6.5. took less than 15 minutes to hook up. two wires. much happier than the shift body. towing and racing setting and can turn it on and off. well worth the 39.99.

what year is your truck?
