Anyone own a PJ brand trailer? Looking at the goose neck flat deck with the hydraulic dove tail, 30' long, 12k tandem duals, electric/hyd disc brakes, and led lights....Thoughts?

Mine is only a 18' car hauler, but I love it. Tough as nails and no way could I replace it for what I paid three years ago. For about the same cash (at that time too) other companies were offering trailers with angle frames(PJ= C-channel), expanded metal/mesh floors(Nice treated wood here), and NO brakes (at least on one axle).

IIRC, there is another thread around about PJ trailers, so more replies will fallow!

We have a 34 ft. Pj with dually tandems and it is a great trailer. No major issues in the time we have owned it. We have wore out 2 sets of tires on it so it has been well used. If I were to purchase another one I would get triple axles with single tires. They seem to pull easier.

I had one for a few weeks. My truck vibrated like heck with it especially at certain speeds. Dealer said to balance tires-did no good. When I was taking it back to him I noticed that the tires on one side were further apart than on the other. Seemed that someone measured wrong when putting the axles on. Went out and got a Moritz one instead.
PJ does build a fantastic trailer. I think that I just got a bum one.

The only suggestion I have is if your going to be maxing out the GVW of the trailer all the time then get one with the torque tube to help keep the trailer from twisting up. Had to add one to my 40' and it pulls so much better loaded and stops all the flopping around when unloaded.

I hear a lot of controversy on PJ trailers. Some or all of them use Quality axles made in Mexico, same with some of the H&H trailers and parts can be hard to get. My neighbor bought an H&H and found this out. I personally own a 33' Titan tandem dually and that is what I'd recomend. I did a lot or research before buying it and I'm very satisfyed. I also think Pro-Trac and the high end Big-Tex trailers are pretty good. They were 2nd and 3rd on my list when I bought.

And like Cole99 said, the torque tube in a very good option to get. Mine had has as much as 29,000lbs on the trailer and it still handled great.

We gotta new tandem dually PJ for the farm that we got at an auction for $5,??? about 2 years ago. Great trailer but it was twisted and we had to reinforce it to straighten it, its fixed now. But thats what you get for letting the neighbor farmers use your junk. They had big squares on it, and unloaded all of the bales off of one side first the the other. Morons.

I picked up a 24' PJ carhauler a few months ago and have been really pleased with it. It's on the heavy side for a bumper pull, but the way I saw it, go big now or pay later for the upgrade.

Not to sound dumb here, but what is a torque tube on a trailer? What does it do and how does it work?

To try to stay on track, I have looked at the PJ trailers and they seem like an okay built trailer.

I really like my Road Boss. It has Dexter oil bathed axles under it. Parts are easy to find and cheap. Put all new seals and one set of bearings in. Paid under 50 bucks for all of it. 4 seals and an inner and outter bearing. So if I looked for another trailer, I would try to find something with Dexter axles. They seem to be well built.

I own 3 of them and sold them for a couple years but I would NEVER BUY ANOTHER TRAILER FROM THOSE I#*$%!D A@@(*^#S...... They do not stand behind thier work at all and get very arrogant to the customer when they confront them..... Paint SUCKS, Wiring No Good. Not a trailer for salted road conditions... I Had to rework all the trailers we sold most at my own expense.....

mine is only 6 months old but has held up to every thing i have hauled on it no flex what so ever mine is a 24 foot goose neck picks in my garage. I use it to haul scrap and other equipment when needed. Have had 29000 pounds on it for a short time and all was good.

A Buddy of mine bought a 14' 7 ton PJ dump trailer the tires are wearing like mad the brake springs broke teraing up the shoes and drum and their is already stress cracks near some welds. HE HAS NOT OVERWORKED this trailer usually carries more bulk than weight. Powder Coat yes but it bleeds rust from any seams :(
