RedG 09-07-2007, 09:22 PM I've read conflicting info on this site about changing the internal filter on my Allison. Some say only at overhaul and others say they've changed theirs and they were gunked up, thus they should be changed regularly. My 05 LLY has 29K on it and I've replaced the spin on three times so far. I'm wanting to change the fluid now. Should I replace the internal filter or not? mark45678 09-07-2007, 09:28 PM all you need to do is a spin on filter every 20 ~ 25,000 mile , the filter in my truck was clean at 34,000 when I changed it.... waste of time and $48.00 in my opinion. If you are going the change the fluid were you going to drop the pan? I build these and most any other automatic and unless there is a failure of the transmission changing the filter/screen is again pointless.
