Help! My lower ball joints will not take any grease, I can push in the center of the zerk with a paper clip no problem. But when I attach the gun, grease goes everywhere but into the zerk.

It may be a silly question, but does your grease gun work on other zerks?
Also, it may not be locking onto the fitting. Clean off all of the crap
around the zerk and try again. Give it a SLIGHT tug to make sure that it is
fully engadged. If it comes free, it isn't locking and you may need a new
fitting on the end of the gun.

It's not locking on the fitting because there is not enough space between the head of the zerk and the control arm. The control arm has allot of edges that are not finished off very well. I took a dremel tool and dressed down the area below the zerk. Makes greasing allot easier.

I have the same problem, my pneumatic gun won't work on the lower ball joint zerks, grease everywhere when I try. Yet it works on all the rest. I get out my trusty ole manual greaser and it works just fine. The end on the pneumatic gun is slightly larger so it doesn't lock on the zerk right. And the once or twice that it did lock, I had a he11 of a time getting it back off.

The lower Ball joints are a bitch to get the grease gun nozzle locked on. I jack mine up and turn the rear of the wheel outwards so as to give me more access. Edited by: Bill Gisse

Use a top grade heavy duty chassis grease. I'm using Scaeffer's 238 Moly Supereme. Its a synthectic blend rated for Extreme Pressure, is Water Proof, Hight Tempature and said Not To Pound Out. Have only lubed with it twice so I can't say anymore about it.Believe there's guy's advertising on this forum that carry it. There other brands to that are probaly just as good.

Edited by: Bill Gisse This works for sure! It's the only way I was able to get grease in. I do it just by turning the wheel all the way so the back is out. I havn't jacked it up. I'll have to try that next.
