: Cost to Hold ~400 RWHP

I'm trying to plan for the future here. While I know an exact figure is not realistic, I'd like to know how much money I'm looking at for trans upgrades which will reliably hold approximately 400 RWHP for the long term. Including labor by a reputable mechanic (Mike L., Dmaxallitech, etc.), what kind of money should I expect to spend?

Thanks.

Spend once.

Suncoast Lev3 and a convertor. Single disc will be fine.

You will spend about $2500 for a Shift Kit, Single Plate Converter and labor.

Alright, thanks for your replies. That's about what I was expecting. Time to start saving....

How much RWHP will a Suncoast 3 and a single plate converter safely handle?

Braz,

The Sun Coast single disc has a HUGE clutch. I have not seen a power level it could not handle. Of course 99.9% of the trucks making big power opt for the triple. There is a definite difference in the "feel" of clutch engagement, the triple being a lot more pronounced. The single still has a billet cover and almost double the factory clutch area, and the same fluid coupling. Your choice.

Thanks,

smoop

How hard do they engage?

Does the triple engage harder??

And yea I'm also wondering how much it will handle..

I'm not a player yet but I'm already planning..

$25-30k for an almost new truck + $5k in mods should make a damn fine truck :) :) DRROOL

Time to hit the books so I can finish up with college first!!

I cant add anything more then Diesel Tech and Smoop already have as those guys are the brains behind what I install...

I will speak from experience though...

2500.00 should get you a Trans go kit and quality Single disk converter installed.

3500.00 should get you a Suncoast L III kit installed.

Is it worth it? Yes. As I always tell people that ask, buy more then you think you'll need and as much as you can afford, even if it means saving up a bit longer then anticipated.

I always use Dmaxallitechs theory. Do it right the first time and you'll end up spending less on it because you'll only have to do it once.

Don't go less than Suncoast level 3 or the equivalent. You will regret it. Any big box today will give you way more than 400 RWHP.

If you can afford to go with the suncoast stage v, absolutley amazeing.

I can buy that stuff at dealer pricing and I cant even justify the LV over a LIII

Drive a LIII truck and LV truck back to back and you likely wont notice much difference.. And unless your making 500+ hp on a daily basis and beating the snot out of it.... Hard to justify IMO
