I was at my friends transmision shop yesterday, and there was a guy in the back pouring transmision fluid in a old mercedes diesel,it was smoking at an idle.he said he puts in 5 gallons of trans fluid, and five bucks of diesel and drives freeway miles with no problem.i bet it smokes like hell.
i really did not think it would burn that well, and told him he could get a ticket for excesive smoke.were in so.cal.they do give tickets for that kind of stuff.anyone else gonna try it?i just had to tell this story.i don't think anyone here will try it.

Having owned an older MB, I can say that smoking at idle isn't necessarily a product of the fuel.

They will burn just about anything you dump in the tank, though. I burnt used oil (engine, tranny, heck even 90wt) in mine in small quantities mixed in with the WVO I was burning. As long as it's well filtered and dry, there isn't much to worry about.

Now in our HPCR injection systems, though, I wouldn't be quite as cavalier about it.

I fill up with about 90 gallons of fuel at a time and will put about 2 1/2 gallons of used oil from my truck into the main tank at the same time. That'd be about a 45:1 mix kind of two stroke like I think. I filter the motor oil before putting it in the tank and filter it twice more through 2 micron filters before letting the truck eat it. So far so good... time will tell.

Our mechanic for our big trucks has a 6.2 service truck he says there hasn't been a drop of diesel in the tank for 2 years he says it runs best on ATF but it will burn anything. He takes all the used oil and puts it in the tank.

I would never do this on a Duramax though
