I just picked up an 83 blazer with a 6.2 in it. I dont have much experience with diesels but would like to get this going. Its been sitting for about three years. I have managed to get it turning over after some tinkering with the starter. I was just wondering if anyone had any suggestions on what i should start with, drain fuel, check glow plugs or injectors etc. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.

How fast is it turning over now? Going to need full cranking speed to get it started.
I would say start with the glowplugs, check them all replace as needed or the whole set, check the gp relay to make sure they are getting power. Then check the fuel system, a good purge on the filter base would be a good start, then loosen a couple injectors lines at the injectors on the drivers side and see if your getting fuel there while cranking, if you are then go ahead and try and start it and see how it runs. If not, then go through the fuel system backwards, check supply pressure to the injection pump, simply open the bleed very slightly and crank again to see if you get a good squirt indicating you have atlease some supply pressure. If there is supply fuel and nothing to the injectors then you probably have a pump problem. With key in on position, remove the heavier red wire from the pump top cover and tap the contact with it, listen for the shutoff solenoid inside to 'click' open and closed to let you know that it is working. If it does seem to work but theres no fuel, then you need to remove and replace the pump. You might be able to just remove the top cover, which should be just 3 5/15" screws and check the metering valve inside the pump to make sure it is free, this is located at the rear inside of the pump under the cover, just pivot it back and forth and try to free it up if it is sticking, replace the top cover and check for fuel at the injectors again. If you still can't get fuel, then you need to replace the injection pump.
