: 94 Sierra 1-2 bogging
twinky586 09-06-2007, 09:09 PM hey there,
i was looking for a lil advice with my 94 Sierra. Every time i take off and the truck shifts from first to second, once it hits second the truck feels real underpowered as if it wants to stall (this only happenes when the truck isnt up to temp, and and under normal acceleration). If its Still not warmed up, and if i punch it, once the truck hits second it doesnt have this issue, seems only under normal acceration. im only 21 and do some work on my truck. Any advice would be great on finding out the problem and possibly fixing it from there. thanx again
John DiMartino 09-06-2007, 09:48 PM If you have access to a scanner, check the coolant temp sensor is reading the correct temps, they can get out of wack when cold when the get old. They wont set a code many times though, you gotta watch it on the scanner, and compare it to the actual temp.An EGR stumble can happen too,but usually will happen on initial takeoff. Also excess carbon buildup makes the engine run lean when cold, clean the throttle body, and consider some Seafoam from NAPA.
twinky586 09-08-2007, 02:29 PM hey thanx their john ill give a few of these things a try. BTW what is seafoam, what does it do, and which one do i need?
John DiMartino 09-09-2007, 07:50 AM you want this one, just be careful, after firing the engine up,it will smoke like a freight train for a few minutes:D http://www.seafoamsales.com/motorTuneUpTechGas.htm
Manic Mechanic 09-09-2007, 09:26 AM Does your transmission make a lot of noise? Your symptoms also indicate a failing GM four speed trans. Have a good transmission man check it out for you.

twinky586 09-09-2007, 01:24 PM It doesnt seem that my trans is making any noise that i can tell, no clunks no wierd noises, i believe it has something strickly to do with the motor. ill try this sea foam and see how it works out. thanx john
twinky586 09-09-2007, 01:44 PM When i go to add this stuff to my motor, in my case where would i pour it in, directly in the throttle body or do i need to have the PCV valve suck it through. Also when this stuff is poured into my gas tank, how much fuel do u recommend their should be in the gas tank when i do that step?

Through your,"brake booster hose" not your PVC,That will put it in the oil. I Had a 93 chevy, tbi 350. When you start it,"Cold" does the idol raise above 1000 rpm.....Should be 1200-1400rpm cold.If so than the temp sensor is working. I know what your talking about, and im sure its the fuel filter. When is the last time that was changed?
twinky586 09-09-2007, 04:12 PM Just about to be 20,000 mile since the last fuel filter change. Also im not to sure where the brake booster valve is if u could help me out, by explaining or showing a pic please. Finally my truck is still warm right now ill get back with how she starts up when "cold". thanx for all the help thus far
03LB-7dmax 09-09-2007, 04:26 PM Dont have a pic,but when you look into your engine, there is a hose coming from the brake booster, and leads to the intake manifold.just pinch the clamp on the booster side and pull the hose from the nipple and let er drain....with the motor running. pour just a little at first and the F.I. wil bump the idol from dieing, and then you can pour it all in.NOTE!!!!! need to drive it after, your done. She is gonna blow whitish smoke for awhile.
twinky586 09-09-2007, 06:05 PM i see what u mean with the brake booster line. what do u recommend, using strainght seafoam or half and half with gasoline.
also regaurding this seafoam, have u used it in the crankcase before and or the fuel tank in your application?
03LB-7dmax 09-10-2007, 12:24 AM No I have not put it in the crank case, nor do I recomend it. I,have done it my 93 and my 99 5.3 i use to have,"Took a way the piston slap" So pour it all in.All it will do is clean it out.But I highly doubt that will cure your problem.AS for the fuel tank, pour a bottle in there,it will do a good job of cleaning those,Fuel injectors.
twinky586 09-12-2007, 07:52 PM The other day replaced the coolant temp sensor, and sure enough it was it. Also used some seafoam the other day and my engine seemed to like that as well. Thanx alot for all your help
