: Are cloth seats becoming extinct?
ChevyHDGert 09-06-2007, 03:30 PM I really don't like leather but most trucks on lots have leather.
Leather gets hot in the summer and leaves those nasty looking creases near the edge of the seat from crawling in and out. Plus they crack and tear easier.
I want bucket cloth seats with the center console.
Can you get bucket seats and center console with the radio down lower or is that only for LTZ packages to have the radio and A/C controls down lower? Or does the radio have to be up on the dash with cloth seats?
It seems like I've seen a radio down lower that didn't have navigation.
Fire44 09-06-2007, 03:47 PM I just went out on the lot and check the trucks we have and it looks like the LTZ's are the only ones with the radio/HVAC systems mounted down lower. If you go to the LT2 package you can get cloth bucket seats but the radio/HVAC system is mounted up higher like the other trucks.
Hope this helps.

maybee 09-06-2007, 05:59 PM i have an 07' classic with the LT2 package so it has the cloth bucket seats with the bose stereo. the LT2 package is loaded...minus the leather. i had to do a vehicle locate to find mine, they found it in Salt Lake so they are out there. I agree with you, not a big fan of leather but i love the bucket seats.
deadsquirrel 09-06-2007, 06:24 PM you gotta love the chevy cloth seats good all year round!
Rosey 09-06-2007, 06:59 PM :exactly: Have a new 07 Classic Dually LT3 with "leather"(poor excuse for leather) and let me tell ya I miss my 02 Z71 that had cloth. Hasn't been fun this summer wearing shorts and sticking to the seats. You'd think that by paying premium $$ for these trucks that GM would at least use quality leather that at least smells like leather. Sure leather gives the illusion of quality and luxury and all of that Xrap but if I had to do it over again I'd try to get cloth.
vortec8100 09-06-2007, 10:38 PM Use to work in a GM dealership and I will never by leather. It show its age sooner and makes a well kept truck look crappy when they start to wear. Had to factory order my truck to get cloth buckets but it was well worth it. It doesn't clean as easy as leather, but I just scotch guard my seats once a year and they still look brand new.
jeffster 09-07-2007, 01:56 AM Gotta agree there. My truck is a year old and the leather looks terrible. I really, really miss the cloth buckets I had in my 00 1500. I traded that truck in last year and after 6 years of abuse the interior looked the same as the day I drove it off the lot. I had to custom order that truck back then to get the options I wanted, but I got a great deal on this new truck that is completely loaded, so I took it. I really wish I had the same truck minus the leather, as that is the only thing I don't like about it.
My buddy has a new Ford with the King Ranch leather and man am I jealous. Talk about a night and day difference in quality. :(
saratoga 09-07-2007, 10:31 AM The GM "leather" quality leaves a lot to be desired especially since the only leather parts are the inserts on the front seats. Everything else is vinyl.
What sucks is that you couldn't get a 3LT with cloth and the 10-way power seats. I had to settle for a 2LT with a partially powered driver's seat.
I agree, the ford king ranch has some nice saddle leather seats. If GM would do that I'd buy it in a heartbeat. AC through perforated seats would be another major plus in my book too.
vortec8100 09-08-2007, 11:41 AM I have never understood why GM penalizes people for ordering cloth. Less power seat functions, no heated seats. Subaru has heated cloth seats, WTF?
pro69ss 09-09-2007, 10:45 PM What about A/C in the seats? Like the Caddy's do....man that is a great feature, especially w/ leather interior.
Lurker Carl 09-12-2007, 04:34 PM Ladies love leather. Guys want cloth. And GM doesn't want your used truck looking as good as a new one.
I hate velour, it's the current rage. That fuzzy stuff makes me sweat all summer long and is hard to keep clean. And it starts to look like crap after sliding my butt in and out of the driver's seat after a few years. I'd rather have Herculon, that stuff wears like iron and will look like new 10 years from now - unless you forget to take that screwdriver out of your back pocket.
santelikk 09-12-2007, 04:50 PM Why is that with the leather? my wife wanted leather too. I wanted cloth. Lucky for her the truck I found had leather. However the drivers seat looks like crap and she only rides in the truck on the weekend.
I did notice the leather in the 07 seems better that the crap in my 02
Duramax911 09-12-2007, 09:01 PM When I was looking for a used truck, it took me twice as long to find an extended cab with cloth. I do have to say it was well worth the wait! I am very pleased
ockgator 09-12-2007, 09:15 PM I'll never have cloth seats again if I can help it... yes leather sticks but that's no biggee, what I hate about cloth is the static shock I get in the winter, give me leather... also if you spill something it can be wiped up, liquid soaks into cloth
newduramaxguy 09-12-2007, 09:26 PM I didn't realize that so many people like cloth! I love cloth, feels more comfy and cozy, GM must make some money with the leather option now a days since it is the "in" thing, every up trim has it. I do not like pleather maybe some real nice suede would be comfy. You leather guys and gals can keep your fake stuff, gimme some cloth! Someone make a sticky pole and we'll vote! include custom stuff too!
newduramaxguy 09-12-2007, 09:29 PM oh yeah, Gus Paulos the dealership where I bought my truck had pretty much a 50/50 mix of leather vs. cloth, maybe its a utah thing?
