After MUCH research, it seems this ipod adapter is the one to go with. If you have it installed please chime in with your experience good or bad and how you have it hooked up and why.

I have the 6 disk in-dash HU w/ Bose and am not sure if I should go with the cd port install or the xm1 where you have to splice the wire. I also have the PAC AOEM-GM24 for the RCA outs to hook up my Infinity Basslink T and didn't know if that changed anything.

Thanks,
Josh

I have the same adapter hooked up as well. It works great and sound great. I spliced into the xm reciever wire and run it through XM1 or XM2, can't recall. It's great to be abel to skip to next song with the steering wheel controls. I have it hooked up in manual mode, where you can control the ipod from the deck or the ipod, much easier since I have a crap load of music on my ipod. Good luck

I LOVE the PA11 ipod adapter. I had the Axxess one and there were too many quirks with it. I lived with it but finally saved up for the USA Spec. I think its a great idea (of theirs) to have the ipod be XM1 and XM be XM2...really easy to switch between ipod and XM/FM/CD, and I dont mind the loss of 6 of the 12 XM presets because I only have 6 presets saved for XM anyways. I also love the auxillary audio input...that way I can play stuff from my laptop too...

I just installed mine. It worked like a champ for a few days, but now it just decides not to play after a while. I lose XM all together. Pressing band gives me FM1/2, and AM. I'm glad I put the thing behind the glove box where it's easy to deal with, because I have to unplug it from the radio an power cycle it to get it to come back to life. It did it last night, and on the way home from work today. After reading that the EXT should use the -VETTE model if you have XM, I wonder if that's the way I should have gone.

And as a side note, Panavise makes a nifty bracket you can attach between the dash and trim bezel to help mount your....anything.

Mine has started doing this the as well lately. I think I've just got something loose though. I need to move mine to the spot where yours is mounted; I "installed" mine in the smaller pocket on the left side of the glove box because I thought I'd want to switch between input modes (mine doesn't have the hybrid mode) even though I normally keep a small flashlight and napkins in that spot. I must have missed the EXT/Vette note, did you end up finding a lux amp, maybe you're on to something since we've both done the upgrade. The only wierd thing is mine worked fine for the first month or two.

Another thing I've noticed lately is that when I leave the Ipod plugged in with the vehicle off for any amount of time, it doesn't shut down the Ipod and put it into charge/idle mode like it used to. It just pauses the song (but still charges) and the backlight comes on and goes off intermittently. I can't figure out if it's the USA-Spec causing this or the accidential Ipod software update I did a while back.

I ended up using the Panavise mount too with a $2 holder from Ebay. Seems to work really well, although the holder is noticeably cheap when the Ipod isn't there. I've got pictures in the garage.

Yeah, I did find an amp finally. you can still get at the dip switches where I mounted it. It just barely fits, but it's probably the coolest stealth mount I've done yet. My ipod pauses and charges when the radio is off, or on another source. The -vette note is burried in the specific applications portion of their website. I've got an open gripe into them as of about an hour ago. I'd think it was something loose too, except for the fact that cycling the power to it cures it (by unplugging it). If you want pix of the mount location, let me know, but it's just the square tubing above where the gbox is. the back of the glove box bin just barely goes beneath it. One other oddity, when I press the top right preset button on the TNR, it causes it to go briefly to DRIVER and then back to SPACIOUS.

I just got my USA Spec PA11-GM Ipod Adapt yesterday, hoping to do the install today. Wondering if there are any thougths or advice for install or location to mount the box? I just plan on hooking my I-Pod Nano in for now.

All ideas are appreciated.

I originally mounted mine in the glove box thinking that I'd need easy access to it so that I could switch from playlist to direct mode "on the fly". But, it turned out I never did, so I moved behind the dash. I just opened the glove box all the way, and have it sitting in an area between the glove box and the portion of the dash where the center console meets. It's completely hidden there, but I can get to it in seconds without taking anything apart if needed.

Anyone use it with the SIR GM-1 instead of XM?
