I have had my Retrax bed cover on now for a week and thought I would give my impressions of it so far. I know a few folks were asking about bed cover a while back.
When ordering I got a great price and great service. The cover arrived when promised and I had to overnight it for a long trip.http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/smiley32.gif I don't know the policies on this board about advertising so if you want to know where I got it just PM me.
Everything was packaged very well and arrived undamaged in two boxes. The Retrax is a very high quality cover. You can tell by looking at the materials and workmanship. The quality control is very good also. All pieces fit as promised in the directions.
Install was easy. Took maybe an hour. Just make sure you get the side rail spacing right. Cover slides easily and looks great. The only thing that happened during the install was that I broke one of the plastic screw covers that hold on the front barrel cover.http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/smiley5.gif I should have warmed them up first. No big deal.
I also got the tail gate seal and Bully Lock.
The tail gate seal works as advertised, but it will never keep all water or dust out. It would be very difficult to seal the top corners. I did go on a 300 mile trip in the rain on the freeway and there was very little water that got in. Not even enough to mention really.
The Bully lock was a snap to install as well. Except the bezel doesn't fit as tight as I would like it to. I will double check tonight and make sure no tabs are broken, but I don't think so. I took care to heat it up and install it carefully. I think I just got a bad one.
Overall I am very impressed with the combo and would recommend it to anyone.
One final note for those with new trucks. I wish when I got my bed rail caps that I would have got the ones without the stake pockets removed. The holes in the stake pockets are another entry point for water and dust. I may even swap them out. Anyone need bed rail covers with stake pocket holes?
