Who appears to be writing the meanest, nastiest, git-r-done EFI Live tune for dragging the sled down the track?

Guy, they are all good guys and very knowledgeable, but most people tend to be better in a certain area. I was just wondering if someone stood above the rest because they have focused heavily on sled pulling.

ChevyDealer do you have EFILive or are just looking for a tune?

The real revolution in is using EFI Live as a tool to get the most from your truck. One tune may run better than another in one truck than it does in another. Many factors such as the health of your CP3, turbo, injectors, and so contribute to this. The abilty to load a tune and datalog is the real key. That data can be used to make changes to suit your truck. One size doesnt fit all if you really want to be at the top.

Well put John. Not only can you run some killer tuning, you can data log and adjust it to your truck.

Johnboy's tune is definitely no slouch. I know of a guy running it - similar to an Edge on 5 :D . Kidding aside, very strong LB7 tune!

Power Max tunes my truck for pulling. Give him a call. He has taken good care of me and many others on here.

Now that is a very good response:)

I tend to studying things and over-analyze before making a decision. I ran the old HJWA for a long time then went to the PPE #10 tune. Wow, what a change!

I have been following EFI since it was introduced here on the Diesel Place. For a long time I've felt I will eventually be an EFI Live user. I wasn't interested in using a laptop and have been interested in V2. I have TechII's and have data logged with them, which has been helpful at times.

Even though I am somewhat of a techie, I have always believed that I just do not have time to mess with writing my own tunes although I know I would totally get into it. Therein lies part of the problem I would be consumed by it.:D Between my Wife and Kids, the Chevrolet/Pontiac/Buick Dealership, and our Cattle Farm there is no more time.

I am very pleased with my current setup other than needing more boost (currently 31psi on the stock charger). I have not bogged the motor yet in pulling so I have been focusing on chassis setup and getting the power to the ground. I guess I really have two questions:

1) How much can I improve on what I already have?
2) When I do make the leap, who do I seek out for tuning?

Thanks for listening and contributing,
Craig

Kennedy and McRat both seem to do an excellent job, but I had Tony (maker of Moonshine) do mine and my truck runs very strong for a stock turbo and cp3. I'd reccomend him to anyone for competition.

I talked to Craig on the Cell the other night but I think I should answer him here to. To help others with the same questions.

1) 20 rwhp maybe. The PPE HOT ET2 is strong and I mean it. I tired it in my truck. I was one of the best tunes I ever tried. It was not as strong as my tune, but my tune was built with my truck on the dyno. On another truck It could very easily out dyno mine.

This brings me to another point I feel I should make. There some really strong tunes out there know. To say one will for certain out run all others on every truck is BS. Every truck is different. Some like a little more timing some like less. Same goes for fuel shot, fuel pressure and boost. That is where EFI Live shines. You can load a tune. Log it. See what you got and make adjustments and try again. The only real way to know your getting the most from your truck is to do that. If your not willing to do that. Than IMHO your better off sticking with the PPE and spending the money on setting up your truck better. A better hitch, traction bars, lockers, tires, lift pump, trans, and so on. Getting 20 RWHP more is no good if you have poor setup. It could actually make thing worse.

2) When you feel you have a good setup and you have the time to learn and experiment.

John,

I really appreciate your honesty and sincerety. It is always nice to talk to someone that has been down the road before. That is what this place is all about...discussion and helping each other. Thank You. :D

I tune (300ft at a time) a couple of trucks around me.... timing and fueling is completely different... if you change pulse width to be like the other....or vise versa, they run like crap in comparison to the correct tune made for that truck. One takes more fuel and less timing, and one take less fuel and more timing. combination tuning works sometimes, but on these 2 trucks, it doesn't for whatever reason. More timing and more fuel doesn't work on either truck, and the less fuel and less timing doesn't work on either truck.

There is a country song that say, "Don't ask me how I know."

LOL
