In the next week or so I will be driving out to IN from Long Island NY to pick up my new 24' enclosed car trailer. They said the weight of the trailer is going to be around 3650 or so. Does that sound right ?
Also would I need a weight distriubting hitch or can I trailer it back without? I tow my 16' open car hauler with my 3100 pound car on it with no problem and that comes to a total of 4350.
Also does the trailer tow better with weight in it or enpty?
I'm real excited about getting this trailer and I am looking foward to the 716 mile trip each way. I just hope it's going to be an enjoyable trip on the way back with the trailer. http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/smiley36.gif

from my experiance(witch isnt allot) a good trailor will tow just as good empty as loaded but not quit as good. trailors usually pull better loaded because they dont bounce around when hitting bumps. also i dont think u need a weight distributing(sp) hitch. your truck is planty big aough to handle that load. 7-8k should be nothing for a d-max.
what kind of trailor is it? ive been looking for a 26-28 foot trailor. i want the extra space for a small living quarters.

Your weight sounds about right to me. I have a 32' enclosed 5th
wheel trailer that weighs 5150 on the scales. It should be fine
empty but yg is right, it will tend to bounce a little more empty. . .
shouldn't be too bad, though.

If you have an adjustable mast for hitch, take some wrenches to adjust height accordingly.
Towed old TT home from winter storage with current truck. Hitch
height was too high. Even with weight distrubiting bars AND cam
sawy control, it scared me. Pulled over twice to tighten up
bars. Trailer was about 4600 LBS. 25'. Trailer swayed
quite a bit. Lowered hitch when tools were available.
But I do have dumb luck.http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/smiley5.gif

You should have no trouble bringing it home. I pull a 26' Haulmark Edge that completely empty is about 4100+ with diamond plate floor, finished walls and cabinets in it.
I would take your weight distrubution equipment along especially since it should have some sort of sway control. The truck can easily handle the weight but it is going to be the sway control that you will need. Hopefully you have a dual cam or something similar and that should take care of it. It will be a little bouncy with no weight in it though.
Enjoy the trailer!!
