Yet another newbie here - I need to thank my neighbor for telling me about this forum! - anyhow this is an extremely informative site and I am learning a TON about my pickup truck. Now all I need is a TON of money to do all the mods! ;)

My question is about my power progammer (Bully Dog Power Pup). I do my normal everyday driving on stage 2 (85 hp for fuel economy). The directions state that when towing you should be on Stage 1 (50 hp). I have pulled my trailer (empty) a few places on stage 2 with no issues and one time this summer I did pull it loaded about 120 miles (again with no problem). Now for the trailer info: its a Haulmark V-nose 6x13. Believe the curb weight is 1000# and all I haul is my motorcycle to the track - bike weighs in at 400#.

So back to the question: can I get away with staying on stage 2 and try to get a little bit better fuel mileage or do I stick with stage 1 and not have to worry about hurting the tranny.

Thanks for the help!

ive done it with more weight cross country on extreme with no issues(really i wanted an excuse to get a new tranny but the wife says it works fine...) anyhow im sure that it will be fine as long as your temps stay down and you dont dog it to hard.

Thanks for the info. Now, I please forgive me I am sure this has been asked a million times here....here it goes one more time......whats temp ranges are safe and what levels are dangerous?

That's not enough weight to worry about. I'd just use my favorite tune whether towing or not.

ive towed my car trailer loaded with a S10 for 400 miles with my predator on the 120 setting through the mountains with no problems. I forgot to change it. I probally towed close to 6,000 LBS.

Thanks for the feedback - I did call Bullydog Tech Support yesterday. They said if its under 5,000# I will be fine. The tow setting is more in line for heavy hauling - my opinion they should state that in the directions.

well most companies recommend towing anything in tow mode.. but that doesnt mean you cant tow in performance

Well I did not have any issues - fuel mileage really wasnt that much better that I can see. I guess from now on I will change the program back to tow mode just to be safe.
