How much does your trailer weigh? I just weighed my trailer and it looks like 5,800 lbs dry. ...... Trailer specs --> 2 7k axels, 22ft deck and spring loaded back-fold 5ft ramps, 22 + 5 = 27 ft trailer...that's it and 5,800 lbs. I don't get it?http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/smiley5.gif

I don't understand what you don't get. I have basically the same
trailer except it is 9 ft longer and has two 10k axles under it and
weighs 7500 lbs with all the chains, blocks and pipe stakes on it. I
must be missing something. Do you think that is too heavy?

eb290, yes, it seems excessive. My axles are just plain dexter 7k, two axles and 4 tires. The actual weight recorded was 6,100 lbs. However, I subtracted the stuff out of it and got the 5,800 lbs for the dry trailer.
Let's see... not including the gooseneck my trailer weighs out @ 214.81 lbs per foot and yours @ 208.33 lbs per foot. How much more does a TDM axle set weigh, including the tires? Why would my little trailer have more weight per foot than your big trailer? I really thought that my trailer would tip-in around 4,500 lbs.... not 6,000. http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/smiley5.gif

It depends on the brand of trailer. Some are made a lot heavier than
others. Depends on the guage of steel in the main beams and the
runners, ect. You must have a heavy built trailer. Probably a good
trailer, but also probably heavier than it really needs to be. That's
the only thing I can come up with.

12" beam from stem to sten..... it's got a lot of steel. The deck only has three pieces of angle in it, the rest is boxed iron....
eb, I'll agree with you, it's more heavy than it needs to be. However, it would not be that hard to swap it over to TDM's or Dexters new never-lube 8k axles. :D

Doc, our trailers are almost exactly the same, save the axles...yet they weigh the same? Heck, just the weight of four more rims & tires should make a difference?
