Mine goes in for an oil change tomorrow. Getting an analyses
done. Wondering what all the info means. What things affect
what? What numbers should be, etc.

A TBN of 10 with 9,200 miles sure looks good to me. Everything else looks fine too.

Any aluminum or chromium numbers?

Ops! Sorry. I just added them.

They look fine, too. Iron is a little on the high side, but your engine is probably still breaking in. I don't think my Duramax was fully broken in until 35k plus.

Looks good.

I see no reason you couldn't continue to run this oil at 10k and up.

Theres a vendor on the site who does it. Can't remember who....

In my area, there is a Kenworth dealership that has a Shell Lubrication
Centre sign up. Have the machine on site. Sure there is
bound to be a place around in your area, Chris. Found mine by
accident.

Just a note. It looks like this oil really cleans up the engine. It really sucks up and holds the dirt in suspension. It gets dirty faster than the other oils. I noticed it cleaned up a yellowish film on the dip stick. It back to its original silver color. Edited by: JohnnyO

No. Just the stock flow through. I stick to the AC-Delco, Purolator or Wix brands. That's based on some tests floating around the web. The Baldwin is rated very good, but I can't buy it locally. This oil sample was with the Purolator.

I cut the filter open it was REALLY dirty at 9200 miles. I don't think I'll keep the filter in that long again. I'll change it 1/2 way through the oil change.Edited by: JohnnyO

Avlube (http://store.avlube.com/automotive.html)

I would suggest that you get the test kit with the TBN. It's nice knowing how much "life" your oil has left in it.
