My dealer says that the intermediate steering shaft (most likely) needs to be replaced on my rig but that they don't have the shaft and don't know when they're getting one (they have to order it once they confirm the problem first hand on my rig).

I notice on gmdieseltech.com the shafts are available (in stock, I don't know, but at least listed). If I bought one and took it to the dealer, does any know how much trouble it might be to get GM to reemburse me and/or what kind of shanangains I might expect.

This doesn't help but my dealer just told me there are 125,000 on order. http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/smiley19.gif

Get on the dealers waiting list and run it. There is no safety concern. Later! Frank

I have them in stock.. but going fast with the back order. Dont expect them to reimburse you.

Have them grease it using the procedures in the TSB and you will be fine.
