I was wondering if anybody else feels like the people at the dealerships do not know anything about our trucks? Lucky for me I know a few guys that have a Dmax and some PowerStrokes.

You are correct. I kind of understand it if the guy's trying to sell lots of different makes/models and cars/trucks. However, I went to a GMC dealer and the saleman had been there 17 years, he knew nothing. Had no idea cargo was even a consideration when towing a 5er..."sure that 3/4 ton will pull it."

My experience with two different dealer service departments in the Denver metro area is that the service advisors don't know all that much about the new LMM engines. They respond to questions in very general terms and often related to older versions of the D'max. I'm hoping their mechanics know more and use the correct oil, for example, in the LMM (CJ-4 rated). But I don't have a warm tingly feeling. I may let them change my oil and do other service but I'm going to provide the oil I want.

There is a GMC dealer here that sells and services Volvo, GMC, heavy duty trucks . I thought about stopping by and talking with thme to see if they would service a 2500 or a 3500 Dmax. I saw a 4500 sitting out front the other day, I believe it has the 6.6 Dmax in it.

My service rep told me that "to his knowledge the oil was the same for the new trucks as it has been for all the other duramaxs".....another chevy dealer in town wanted 144 bucks to do a fuel filter change
