Recieved and installed the latest filter from AFE for the kit. Took the truck out for a spin and man was I impressed. Truck runs about 150 times better than ever before. If you have the kit make sure you have the right filter.

do you have a part #?

The one I got had a Post-It note with a new # on the box, but the # on the filter itself hadn't been changed yet. I will check it when I get home.

emerick,

So the only difference is the filter? I just had my Stg II installed,
and its that big plastic S shaped pipe, the metal box with a cover, and
a proguard 7. Those are the same components you are running, correct?

Thats right, you just need to check the inside of your filter. The old filter will neck down about maybe a 1/2 inch inside the rubber sleeve, and the new one is just straight through.

Awesome! Calling AFE right now!

*results*

Got off the phone with them a while ago, the tech/rep, outright said
that they have been having issues and are still trying to fix it, but
that they will replace your filter if you are having any issues, and to
let them know if any problems persist, so they could r&d it more..

No hassle at all, just gave name/ady, and they will be shipping a new one to me today.

This filter better fix it....I am going to be pissed off if it doesnt...Why should we the customer have to do the R&D? Just my 2 cents..

Running the std (intruding) element, I see negligible MAF reading differences. Net gain 5HP and 15 lb/ft of TQ repeatable running the Predator 85 HP tune.

sean,

Hopefully it does, it doesnt bother me really that there are problems,
life is full of them, and just because you buy something doesnt mean
its %100, so as long as you get it fixed eventually it should be fine,
if it goes on forever and never gets handled, I'd be ticked.

Thats just how I see things, I'm a real good customer and easy person to deal with, I think

Will give you guys an update as emerick did, as soon as I receive it.

I hear ya...I just am tired up taking this cold air intake on and off to see if this is my problem...Finally i narrowed it down to the cold air intake..Its all good on the R&D thing just rather it be the company selling the product to me, not me doing it for the company...Thats why i paid $300.00 and some odd dollars for the product.(suppose to be proven)..I dont really care about the gains of power i just dont want it to put my check engine light on everytime i hook it up.But ill keep you posted once i get my new filter.

My new filter replacement is a blue one with a concaved cone at the end of it The one they show for the advertising. My first one was yellow with a solid rubber piece at the end. What description of filter did you get.Thanks.

The updated filters I got were a blue 4-layer filter without the concave end cap. I did MAF testing with a blue/4-layer/concave filter, a regular Pro-Guard 7 filter, and the stock airbox. They both showed significant MAF differences @1500 RPM. The stock airbox had the highest MAF reading (same truck, same temp, same IAT, 5 minutes apart, RPM locked at 1500 w/TECH 2)

Kennedy, you should get one of the updated filters from AFE to dyno, I bet you will be suprised. http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/smiley3.gif

My filter was not blue, it was a pro guard 7, but it is different from the 1st one I've had.

I'll do some more testing soon. I've seen some conflicting results on this. Also somestrange design concepts with the filter (neckdown) among other things Also, I'm still getting a handle on the LLY's consistent traits...

What are your thoughts on how the plastic tube fits/lines up?Edited by: Kennedy

Max Payne

I also think it fits poorly , I have to get someone to push on the tube while I tighten the last clamp on the tube at the turbo to get it in the boot all the way, and then it is rubbing on the FICM wire loom. It appears the angle/length of the end of the tube could be better.

Max Payne,

Your not alone.

The fit on the tube could be better. First time I installed it, I coudnt get the thing together right. Tube kept popping out of the rubber boot. Ive had to take it off twice now to do the Finger stick modification. Now, I tighten the boot up on the turbo end of the tube, slip it onto the flange at the turbo and tighten it there. Then I slip the airbox end in and tighten there...before I bolt the airbox down.

I almost scrapped the tube for the stock one. Methinks I could have saved lots of money just buying the airbox and filter (Stage 1) as I dont know how much benefit you get with that new tube.

Any way that one of you guys with the new filter can snap some pics? I
was sent one and its identical to the one I already have.

The part number that was on my invoice is 24-90026, dont know if that matters or not.

Thanks!

They look identical from the outside. Look through the inside. The old one should have a ring on the inside of it, and the new one should not have that.
