Looking to get that extra power either with EFI or PPE Hot+2. Of course wanting to start off right, before goin the extra step and get a built tranny or a kit. Truck has 10000 miles on it and wondering what is best. Wanting to achieve around 600rwhp or so. What am I better off with the kit or the new built tranny?

A new built tranny will handle way more than 600hp, it is also alot more pricey. The upside is, get a whole tranny sent to you and send yours back.

With a kit, which you would need a SC 3 to handle 600hp it is cheaper but you have to either tear apart the tranny yourself or get someone else to do it.

Have a SC IV built, or V shipped if ya' gonna wrench on it yourself. Then sit back and PLAY no worries....

PK- So your saying I could get a SC V sent to me pull mine and send it to them to take a bit of the cost down? This is all new to me so I need to be enlightened! Thanks for your patience. Oh yeah truck only has 10000 miles on it.

Well a SC IV kit is about $2800 plus labour, and a fully built SC V is about $3800.

I do not know what someone would charge to rebuild the transmission or R and R the transmission.

I got mine rebuilt for $500 and pulled out and put in for $900.

Do these prices include new torque converter?

Many owners that travel north of 500 hp find you need more then stock connecting rods, lower comperssion pistons , duel fueler pump , lift pumps...... and you need aftermarket turbos! so the suncoast built kit at $3800 isnt looking so expensive anymore when you start looking at the parts needed to make that kind of power.

The kit does include the converter, the tranny I can't find where it says if it does or not. Mike L or Eric would know.

Take a look here www.suncoastconverters.com

Both Suncoast kits include converter. Converter price needs to be added to trans price on the Stage V.

The Suncoast V kit includes the torque converter but its a 1056. Cost a little extra to upgrade to 1057.

Suncoast V is a complete trans. All SC kits come with a 1056 which is a great converter. 1057 runs a little extra.

so as far as suncoast trans are concerned.....for roughly 1000 bucks difference you get a stage V complete with converter?.....Why would someone have a stage IV kit with converter built + Labor (which probably comes to or exceeds the stage V) when they could just swap out the entire tranny (stage V) themselves or pay a few hundred bucks to have it installed? Seems to me that Stage V swap would be the way to go. Any thoughts?

My SCV was just under 7g's with all the perks. You get 1200 back when SC receives your core.

Depends on who builds it (kit form). A stage V from SC will take almost anything you can throw at it.
