What kind of pusher pump is most of you guys running with the upper end VA box (+150/215)? I know that the fass system is excellent, but I was just curious to see what everyone is running. Also, does stacking a rail pressure box, such as the duramaximizer, with a pulse and duration box, the VA for instance, add much more power?

http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/uploads/SuperDiesel/2004-11-16_213932_lift_pumps.JPGThe pressure box dosn't add much. 15-30hp if your system isn't already starved for fuel. The FASS is ok, but not the end all answer. Look in the near future for some good ones to be emerging. For the mean time you can run a subtitute like a Carter or Holly as long as you run a filter in front of it first. Black lable Holly,or Carter PH4600P. Both are noisy though. I run a 6.5 GM pump witha Carter "T"ed in that I can turn on when I need the extra fuel delivery. Edited by: Super Diesel

There are plenty of ways to get the job done, just get a good diesel rated pump otherwise you will be rebuilding / replacing it often.

i run a holley red, i also t in a 1/2" checkvalve and that allows me to only run the loud pump when i turn on the switch for it, it has been working great, installed a month, using stock filtration, makes it easy to bleed the systemhttp://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/smiley2.gif

A1000. I have not heard the Holley or Carter run but you don't have any doubt when the A1000 is fired up, it makes plenty of noise.

I do run it all the time, 7K trouble free miles so far.Edited by: BMDMAX

I am currently running 2 pumps in series. No regulator, no bypass, no audible noise, and no wear particles generated. That and they really cannot due to the one compressed oring design. Working on getting some more psi so a single unit can be used, and a custom head to facilitate easy mounting. Small enough and light enough to be mounted to the sheet metal shield on the fuel tank. which allows a no cutting install.

John, you mean in paralel dont you? I'm bad on my wiring terms :o

twin fm100's in paralel(I think its paralel, inlets teed together and outlets teed together, not a inlet of one being fed by the outlet of another) for 200 miles now. Filtration to 5 micron built in(they have a 2mic filter available, filters are 15 or so IIRC) Cant hear the pumps running with the truck on but can here em with it off. Water drain built in, heater available for em. 150$ in AN fittings and pumps are 160 a pop IIRC. no reg no return. Works great thusfar, time will tell. Hopefully I can get my pics to post next week and maybe do a write up if there is an iterest.

I'm in series. These pumps will move a TON of fuel, just not a lot of psi so plumbing in series boosts the psi...

No problem with mounting and my set up is looooooong. Tons of room. Got pics but need to get my dad to burn em so I can get em to this computer.

Those pumps of johns are tinny. About the size of a baseball IIRC. The FM100's are pretty compact but the amount of fittings required to get em together in parallel since I didnt want to run 2 seperate inlets/outlets and i wanted to have a 8AN tee made things pretty complicated. I coulda plumbed it another way but the wroute I took makes it 18" or so long. Filters are beyond easy to get to and I built a nice peice of armor for it. I've got it wired off a switch for my testing but will switch over to something automatic......although the fact that its a PITA to start has some advantages......might leave it as is to discourage borrowing;)

Leave it switched, it makes for some cool barks on the dyno.... ):h
It is nice having it switched via relay in the cab of the truck but I thought the stock pump could pull the fuel through those FM100's pretty easy? I thought those are diaphram pumps which are the easiest to draw fuel through when they are not running.

My Mallory pump (geroter) would flow pretty much zero fuel when it was off. The A1000 seems to be a little better but it will still eventually start running pretty bad.

The shutoff valve gets them everytime though.

Hmmmmmmm.......maybe I can see if I can get Tony to jump outa the chair and scurry across the dyno room from my truck next time:D

I tried blowing through one and it was pretty restrictive. I havent tried leaving it running with them off.

Regardless I gota do something different about my switch, I've got the switching wire for the relay running into my truck and just tied into my amp power wire with a little switch. Very cobbled, the only thing that would make it more redneck engineered is if i used ductape instead of electrical

I just see you got a LiLY? Hows that coming? Figured you woulda bought yourself a 4x4 this time:p

Yup, just picked it up for the wife. She is now a genuine dieselfitter. ):h
I figure her truck will make a great tow truck for mine, no more trying to get setup at the track, just roll it off the trailer and go. I don't plan on racing this one as much (yeah, right) but I figured somebody has to keep running some fast 2WD trucks just for the principle of it. :D

I am still getting the LLY broken in and getting the wife adjusted to a diesel for her daily driver. :)

In very simple terms a bark is a funky whoop whoop whoop 3 stooges kinda noise or a little dog bark kind noise. If your doing something stupid in your truck and you hear a noise that sounds real expensive its probably it. Once you hear it you know. Its cause when you get that turbo spinning really fast and all of a sudded you truck is no longer trying to injest the air, the turbo keeps spinning from its inertia and build pressure till it backs up and stops it from spinning and or sends it backwards. This is hard on the turbo and can lead to stuff comming apart. It happens mostly when you lift quickly while under lots boost, like a burnout, or dougnuts):h The bark that sent Tony dashing across the dyno room like his hair was on fire and his ass was catching would be when someone forgot to turn on Brandons fule pump durring a dyno pull and got a deccent head of steam before the truck instantly died. Tony and I were sitting in front of the truck and when it died it barked loudly and since it had already started rising and straining against the straps as the pull started it droped quickly. So we hear a loud noise, see a truck in front(and pointing at us) lunge......natural reaction probably is to make like a tree and get the fCensored outa there):h Any other questions should be forwarded to our resident turbo killing and barking expert Got Juice ):h

CC/LT Silver Birch Metallic / Dark Charcoal leather. It has been raining like a mofo since we got it, so I need to get a clear day to snap some pics. I like the 05 front end way better, even with the slanty headlights on it. I think Peaches will now be DMDMAX. :D She already wants more smoke, more turbo noise and says we gotta get rid of the bike tires on the truck. Is she going to pay for the mods on her truck? If so then heaven, if not its just kickass to have a chick that wants to blow smoke. Think of it this way if you are footing the bill......better that she understands the BOMBing bug and supports it then goes ballistic and divorces ya, then she gets the truck and 1/2 your other shit anyway. She said nothing less than 5-inches will make her happy, so I better get the KD 4-to-5 exhaust on there pronto! ):h

And here I thought that I could get by with my four incher..... :o

We went and filled the tank yesterday so that was a bunch of fun. Looks like GM redesigned the filler neck and the pump did not shutoff in time, fuel all over the new truck. Censored She had to learn the paper towel for the fuel handle trick (can't be a proper lady with stinky diesel hands), top it off slow because of the foam, and to put in additive. Lot's to get used to after 11 years of driving a gasser but she is getting there.

We did get 17 MPG on the first tank though.
