A coworker is selling a combination portable air compressor jump starter. She picked up this unit at costco for $60. It claims to have 400 cranking amps and 1000 peak amps. Do you think it will start a duramax that is dead? I spend a lot time in the back country and thought something like this would be good to have in the tool box.

I think the trucks have two 600 COLD cranking amp batteries in them... if not a little larger...... I would think that would be small.. But it may give the extra help you need for a half dead battery, just on the edge of cranking..... but I dont think it would start them from dead....
