I have a 2002 Duramax with an allison. I noticed driving yesterday that if the throttle is wide open, it won't shift to the next gear. It doesn't matter what gear you are in at the time, it does it in every gear. I don't have a programmer or any mods but a cold air intake. It will downshift fine, but will climb to around 3000 rpm and sit there. If you let off a little it will go on and shift,,,,,,,, Any Ideas????http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/smiley5.gif Edited by: DZL Man

Put a scanner on it,check for codes. You might have a TPS problem.

Mine does that, always had in the 4/5 exchange, only. Will down shift and just lay there untill I lift for it to shift.I have heard of many doing the same, take it for what it's worth.

Ive never held my trucks peadel to the floor through all gears. The traffic here don't allow it. Mine seems good through the first three.

Maybe I can help answer this. At wide open throttle trans is programed to shift at a predetermined rpm. With a plugged fuel filter, engine can not reach that high of an rpm because of fuel starvation therefore no shift.

Had a friend that said his 01 wouldn't shift, and it turned out his filter was plugged just like mike says. This guy had 48000 miles on stock fuel filter...

It's funny that there isn't a fuel psi code set, but somehow it doesn't seem to.

There's a lot of 20k fuel filters out there. Would be interesting to see what the restriction is on a filter that is causing this problem.
