ok this is going to be hard to explain and i realize there will be many different answers but this is driving me nuts! i have an 02 diesel sierra crewcab. first off is there any defects in the 02 drivetrain or suspension? mainly because everytime i drive it over bumps and come to a complete stop and start to go again i feel the same jerk and sound. it feels like something is loose and rattling under the truck. i have taken it to 3 dealerships and a couple other places and nobody can find out the problem but they all feel the same thing i feel. this is killing me!!! can anyone help or hopefully had the same problem. it feels like its coming from the front of the truck

Is it 2 wheel drive or 4 wheel drive? Do you get any vibration at any speed? Do you feel what you feel in the steering wheel or in your seat? I've seen and heard bad "U" joints or CV joints sound like a loose lug nut rattling around in a hub cap and thump or clunk when going over bumps or starting and stopping. Sometimes they are very difficult to actually see the problem. You need to find a good drive train and suspension diagnostician.

its 2 wheel drive. i do feel the vibration at any speed. as for the vibration i can feel it through the whole truck. i guess it feels like a wheel is kinda loose

Got a knot or bad spot on a tire, sometimes hard to tell. Just a guess but i would look there first, even new tires have this problem now and then.

First off, the "jerk" is propbably the driveshaft yoke sticking, so just remove the driveshaft, and lube the heck out of the splines and reinstall.

The rattle you hear may be the brake pads, so next time you hear the rattle, lightly apply the brakes and see if it goes away. I know mine does it, and it was posted on here before about the brakes.

Just a couple of things to look at.......

Mine has been doing this for over 100k miles. I just got used to the noise. I think it is coming from the steering column under the hood but it is a pita to lube it. I just learned to live with it.:)
