it claims 80 hp and 150lb tq, but i can get it about $100 less than other chips iv looked at. but i suppose that it would be a little to hard on the engine with out an intercooler, am i right in thinking this?

Since, for some reason, the link isn't working for me I can't comment on this particular chip. I would say that this is a mod where it doesn't pay to pinch pennies. There aren't too many vendors who provide a chip for the 6.5 so I would be inclined to support one of the vendors whose products have already been endorsed on this forum.
I think your particular application will determine how rough on the engine the new found power will be. First...never, ever, never chip before you gauge. If you're going to be working the truck hard then yes, some type of charge air cooling is a necessity. If you've got a case of Speed Racer envy, not really.

If it's the one I've noticed before, I sent the guy a question and he didn't respond to me. Nate 1975 or something like that? I asked how he got the program and if it was something he came up with or how it was acquired. If I had to guess, I'd say he has probably gotten someone else's chip and copied the program and bought blank EPROMs and flashed his own to resell. The blank chips can be had for $40-50, I think and some guys dabble in programming such things.
I had an email buddy that designed a program for me when I did an engine swap in my last truck. I bought that particular EPROM for about $4 and just sent it to him. He bumped up the fuel from my stock program and made some other adjustments for me.

I looked on E-Bay and seen those chips too. Those ratings are pretty aggressive. To make Horse Power it takes FUEL, according to the Stanadyne Site our stock pumps are set up to make Max 250HP if I remember right. Stock HP is 195BHP you add 80HP and your up too 275 BHP, me wonders if that much increase it really posible with out changing pumps or at the verry least modiifying it. TDG might know better than I.

275hp doesn't sound that aggressive. That's exactly what a member's 18:1 intercooled engine with the heath chip makes on the dyno. It seems like a 6.5L owner is going to buy a pump eventually, and I asked TDG about this, it seems like a DS-4 could be calibrated to 80mm3 on the test bench for a HO replacement. Mate that up with an aftermarket PCM and marine injectors to complete the package.Edited by: quantum mechanic
