The stock dually tire valve stems are short ones and the inside tire is impossible to get to the valve cap and to check pressure or to add air. The outside tire is no piece of cake either. Dually tires used to have, and I think motor homes still do, brass stems. The inside one was long and the outer one was curved. The provided easy access to the tire valve stems. I went to Discount tire and some of them have no clue but the manager was going to check availability. It seems they are hard to find.
How do you 3500 owners check and air up your rear tires? I have the guage and air chuck that is angled but the chuck may not be available on the road.

I have a extendable dual chuck tire guage that I use to chech psi. I go to truck tire shops or any place that have U-Hauls to air up.

all you have to do is type in truck valve stems in a search and look at the many different websites. There are many I have seen that sell extenders. They screw on the valve, come through the tire holes, and clip on the lip of the rim. They come in rubber to chrome and or aluminum. Hope I could help?

Just some input on the Valve stem, I highly recommend you contact a RV/Big Rig tire shop. I read many threads on RV sites that talk about this very issue. There have been some dangerous situations surface when using extensions off the standard rubber valve stem(or metal one). They vibrate loose and then cause the tire to go flat. There is also information about the chrome plated units cracking.
I bought the 1 piece angled metal valve stem from the big rig tire shop. I have enough clearance to get my air chuck in there easily. They were the guys that told me about all the stories. To do it like the big Class A Coaches have it is quite expensive. Not going to be able to do it for 10 or so dollars.

You can get extensions like these that are one piece. You have to dismount the tire to put them on.

I used the screw on type extensions on my duals and after a time they leaked. Nothing like going down the road with a 5ver in tow and a flat inside dual.....
I thought about the real long stems with different angles like the truckers use...they require breaking down the tire, but that gets to be a hassle when you go to rotate tires(switching valve stems around). I ended up going with a solid stem that is a tad longer than stock, but no rubber middle. The inside duals are still a PITA, but I like'em better than stock.

Good discussion. Hats off to Heartbeat Hauler and Duramax Dually for great advice. Never use rubber valve stems and any type of extenders! Hard to believe GM can't put another $30 into these trucks and stock them with "metal" high pressure valve stems. Like Duramax Dually I went to several different truck shops to get their read. I ended up going with the same setup as Heartbeat Hauler. :ro)
I put a set of SS simulators on the dually, really dresses the truck up for $180. It restricts access to the inside valves, but I can still manage to get air to them. The double chuck air adaptor is a big plus and available at most truck stops. Happy Holidays! JJ :)

I had simulator's on my last dually and used the steel braided extension's from the inner wheel and outer that got Riveted to the center cap. The inside tire did go flat with the rubber valve stem and extension . Found out it was the centrifical force of the wheel going round and round throwing the extension out a little which in turn forced the rubber stem to be bent on a severe angle and it would let the air out from between the valve stem and the rim  . BUT when you stopped the rubber stem would go back into place and seal up  . Put air in tire and all was well till you hit hwy speeds again Censored . So I put the metal stems on the inside and out and then the extensions and I even put a tyrap between the two rims holding the inner extension in place so it wouldn't get thrown out while I was going down the road. That set up lasted for the 10 years that I owned the truck.
