: Anyone running a BD trans?
jkimmel 08-31-2007, 06:15 PM Just curious, I know they make other good products, how about their transmissions?
I know most here are die hard Sun Coast and for good reason, but I can get a pretty strong deal on a BD, so it may be the way to go barring any horror stories/know issues...
anyone?
:)
baxterboy 08-31-2007, 11:56 PM What kind of power are you looking at running. If it is anything above 400 RWHP, I would stay clear. Seems like alot of people have had to replace them when laying any serious power to them.
jkimmel 09-01-2007, 12:34 AM hmmm...more is always better, but I really can't see more than 400. What makes them weaker? They guarantee them for 500 hp
jkimmel 09-02-2007, 12:05 AM nobody has any input?
Maybe I should've started a "BD vs Suncoast" thread
elhuntr06 09-02-2007, 12:14 AM I was lookin into a BD when was needing a tranny and didnt hear anything good about them I got a suncoast IV and its bad a$$. Spend the extra money on a ATS or Suncoast Talk to Mike L
dbl dz racing 09-02-2007, 01:42 PM go with suncoast for sure, I have a buddy with a ats and he is rebuilding it at 25,000 miles with just a hot tune and a lift pump:eek:  . Sorry just the facts
astieg 09-02-2007, 02:04 PM If they gaurentee them for 500HP what is their warranty policy.... Why is it not a bigger seller.... Personally I would stick to the census and go with the forementioned.... BD.... Broke Down????
andrew.d.wilson 09-02-2007, 03:09 PM Mike L said he had to rebuild a few of them just FYI in a previous thread
dbl dz racing 09-02-2007, 05:20 PM they warranty against defects not burned up cluthes, they consider that wear and tear items or abuse from running it or "race" as they call it as warranty void get ahold of mike L. i have never bought a thing from him but he always answer the phone and answer every ? u will have. I just wish i would have bought my stuff from him to give him some support due to being a vendor on this site, and a nice guy with great customer support

I have been running the BD tranny and triple disk torque converter since Jan. 2007. No problems of any kind! Truck did 525 HP on BD's dyno last spring and over 500 HP on a different dyno since then. I am very pleased so far.:D
jkimmel 09-05-2007, 08:46 AM well one person has run one :) Is it comperable to a SC III? Anyone know what the guts look like? Do they put all new clutches in, or just some, valve body, etc?
jkimmel 09-06-2007, 09:10 PM well thanks for all the feedback!:):) I went ahead and ordered one. I am going to EFI live and a GT42 turbo shortly as well. I am aiming for 550-600 rwhp :) we'll see, thanks for all the input!
Tutts 09-06-2007, 11:35 PM You ordered a BD or a SCIII? With that power, let us know how it works out for you.
jkimmel 09-07-2007, 08:50 AM I ordered a BD based on all the great feedback here.
