after starting with injector problems at 750 miles i was not too happy with my new truck. the dealer only gave me the run around . and after 3 trips to the dealer they had me use additive which cleared up my stumbles knocks and smoke. i just made my first trip to glamis with my new rig and all my worries have gone away . towing my trailer with a truck load of firewood was no problem . not once did my temp move from 205 and not once did my tranny temp get above 210 . once i was in glamis i had to see what this beast could do so i tried to take my truck up oldsmobile hill which i never made up with my old gassers. this hill is no joke . my first atempt on level 5 attitude my motor cut out about 3 forths of the way up . but on level 4 i made it no problem every time . i also took my truck into some big dunes and bowles and it performed flawlessly. i now trust my truck in the harshest conditions. and i think you should too.

Glad it is working out for you. I am one of the fortunate LLY owners that has had no problems (yet) to date except for an annoying ticking sound others have written about here. However, I have become a real advocate of stanadyne. I started using it after reading about some of the benefits and my engine seems more responsive and the ticking has gone away.
It aint cheap. I buy it premeasured for each tankful and order it on the Internet. I pay about $3.33 for each bottle (includes shipping charges.) I know it is expensive to buy it this way, but it is convenient as heck and no mess. Conservatively, I know I am getting at least 1 mile per gallon more after using the stanadyne. Given the size of the tank, that is about one extra gallon per tankful. After you subtract the cost of that saved gallon, I figure it costs me a little over a buck per bottle for the stanadyne. Well worth it when you consider the benefits. Anyway, this is my first diesel and I am very impressed with its performance to date, and mine is still stock. Good luck!

I'd love to see pics/video. Are they of the truck climbing the hill, or just the 'new truck' pics?

No, I am talking about the people who just show up to party and cause trouble. If you have been around for 10 years then you know what I am talking about!

diesel man,
Did you change the wimpy stock 245 tires? How about a lift? I go to Pismos and Glamis as often as I can but won't dune it until I get my 295's and lift. Plenty of power but no traction with the 245's even aired down. Stock clearance is pretty good but I'm still worried about getting high centered.
Did you go up the slope on the left side or straight up the middle? Pretty impressive if you made it going straight up the middle. Big pucker factor on the ride back down, huh?

i have put many mods on my truck -11 inch lift- king 2.5 shocks , dual in front ,single in rear - deaver springs in rear-toyo 38.5 tires- 20 inch rims -exhaust- intake - edge / attitude. and other stuff. outlaw offroad did all the work . i am trying to post pictures. i went up the left side at first but once my confidence built i went up the middle. with no problem . i aired down to 13 in front and 10 in rear .

Oh, now it makes sense. Based on your signature before you updated it I thought you were pretty much stock. I was trying to picture a stock duramax making it all the way up Olds. http://dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/smiley36.gif
