My 2003 2500HD Duramax/ZF 6-speed's A/C has worked fine since new and all of the sudden it quit cooling on the way home from the races yesterday. When I got home I checked and even though the A/C was on the compressor was not running. I fiddled with it a little with no luck and went to bed. On the way home from work today I turned it on and it worked for about 15 minutes and stoped. I turned it off and on again and it worked for a few minutes and stoped. I turned it off and on again and it started to cool and I shut it off and left it. Any idea what the problem may be?

Low Freon? Bad Low Pressure Switch? A leaking Schrader Valve?

My 03' did basically the same thing. On the interstate it was like it was cutting on and off. I brought it in and they replaced the compressor (under warranty). Still didn't work! I told them about the TSB I'd read here and they pulled it up and ordered the parts. It has cooled great ever since.

Now this morning I got a burning rubber smell when I turned on the heater. It lasted a few seconds and went away. The same thing happened Saturday but I assumed it was the car in front of me. Is there a belt on the fan/blower. What about the cabin air filter? I do alot of really dusty driving. Maybe it's plugged up. Is the filter under the passenger side dash?
