Anyone tried the new Max energy? They offer a 100% money back guarantee if not fully satisfied. They claim lower EGT's.

Any thoughts?

Thoughts ran through my mind, i still havent seen prices or power levels on that thing... They're all secretive about it...

I just put one in an 05 LLY today, and it loaded identically the same as the old unit, and the tuning felt the same as well. I spoke with them about it and nothing tuning wise has changed, just that it is in a smaller package, and is now internet updateable.

I got the following response from Hypertech on the differences between the Power Programmer III and the Max Energy:

"The Max Energy replaces the Programmer and has the exact same Power Tuning to increase power and other options, rev and speed limiter, tire calibration etc. The Max is smaller in design and is internet updateable."

So seems the only real advantage would be the internet updateable feature.

Here is a link (http://http:/www.hypertech.com/get_dynochart.php?cid=105&vid=1433307&tp=pdf) to the dyno graph of a LBZ with Hypertech tuning; it picked up 95 hp and 178 tq over stock. Last week I went to lunch with a couple of the engineers and we drove the LBZ and that thing was pretty nasty on stage 3. As for the claimed EGTs, Diesel Builder Magazine did a Diesel Tuner Shootout (http://www.dieseltunershootout.com/)that tested Hypertech, Superchips, and Edge against each other on a LBZ Duramax, 6.0 Power stroke, and a Dodge Cummins. Anyway the reason I bring it up is because you can see independent testing of the EGTs that Hypertech claims.

And you guys are correct, if you already have a Hypertech Power Programmer III, you won't gain anything performance wise by switching to a Hypertech Max Energy.

Thanks for all the input. I'm still unsure which one to get for my LBZ. Nate at performance truck likes the PPE or the Diablosport. I had the SC flashpaq on my cummins which seemed to work real good. I didn't like what it did to the tranny though, as far as shifting.
