How much boost can a stock 2000 PS take? Should I waste my time modifying the stock turbo or go with a ball bearing model?


2000 F350, crew cab, SB, 6 speed, K&N FIPK, Banks 4", 80HP superchip program

I have seen stock SD turbos make as much as 40-45# of boost but they did not last long. And they had quite a few more mods to the engine.

:ro) :ro) The stock turbo will only live with 27 psi or less.I had one make 35 psi but they will not live.The ball bearing is the way to go & it will lower the egt's also.The motor is good to 500 rwhp but at that level & above they will need head studs.Also if you plan on making more than 400 need to check if it has forged or powdered rods.Diesel Innovations has some pics of how to check them.Hope this helps!):h ):h
