I just got a used 2005 with 23,000 on it. It has the 100,000 on the LLY but only 35,000 bumper to bumper. Has anyone used Mercury warranty? I got hosed by another after company on my last truck. Is it worth $2,000 to get the 100,000 and 7 year?

Bumper to Bumper is 3 years 36,000 miles, engine is 5 years 100,000 miles, as far as extended warranty, lots of members on this site swear by the GMPP extended warranty, it's all GM. Maybe someone with more knowledge will pipe up with the info.

As a mechanic who has worked on vehicles with GMPP and other warranties I would only use GMPP on my own vehicle. With GMPP I am allowed to fix the vehicle using new GM parts just like the original warranty. Other companies will use used/junkyard parts.

I have had two through American Mercury. My credit union sells them (and since I know someone there I get it at their cost). I bought the platinum package for my 06. They've been excellent and have not denied or given me a hard time over covering items in the past when I used it on my 01. You can go to any repair facility that accepts a corporate credit card...I've always gone to the dealer and never had any issues or complaints from the service guys about getting paid or them hassling the dealer about warranty repairs.

The GMPP is good; expensive but good and of course your dealer is going to recommend that because they have a vested interest in doing so. The Mercury warranty doesn't care what type of parts are used to repair your vehicle...take it to the delaer and they will install genuine GM parts. In this day and age, I don't think any dealer will install junkyard or used parts on your car warranty or not. Body work is a different story.

I bought an extended powertran warranty from Smart Auto Warranty. Got their name from a warranty broker.
Warranty is 100k or 5 years. Bought the truck w/ 130k on it. I can take it to any mechanic as long as they are ASE certified.
