Ive got a 2003 2500HD and I was able to snag a nearly new roofmount dvd system out of a wrecked truck like mine. I was needing someone that has some experience with these. I was able to go to the chevy dealer and was able to order the wiring harness needed for this but if anyone has any ideas on where to begin on the install on this I would greatly appriciate it.

Jeremy, Welcome to the Forum!

You could get the wire harness? Dang, I didn't think you could! If you don't mind, how much did it cost? Do you have an idea of what it includes, like does it just supply power to the unit, does it tie into the radio harness, etc, etc...

Ask Max Power..he may know.

My local car stereo dealer has been more than helpful with any questions I have concerning instalation problems.

yes, I was able to go and see a brand new truck with it at factory and I took that VIN number and they looked on the computer and saw what harness they used there to run it. From what I understand, it does run everything power wise and the speakers and everything and it ran me exactly 98 bucks. If you need a part number let me know.

You need to go back and get the headliner too as it is different that the non DVD headliners and while your there snag the harness. New headliner = $300, harness was $100 and these where at cost $$$. I was going to buy one last year to put in mine but found out there was too much to change out and let it pass. The harness runs under the dash and would be a major PITA. DO a search as i think a couple guys on here did it an made it work but I thought it was too much work and much easier to go with headrest DVD's instead. Good luck! Edited by: 03GMC2500HD

I bought a complete factory GM kit off of Ebay a few weeks ago and installed it the other day. Very complete kit even included the wireless headphones. The kit included a 25 page booklet GM part# 88959092 that showed step by step installation instructions including a template for headliner modifications. I'd be happy to post it if you'd like.

Sounds like that isn't a GM kit unless they make an aftermarket kit. My headliner is definitely not the same as one with no DVD RSE. . . Any pictures?

Also the factory kit should not come with wireless headphones. ONe moew thing is that there should be a led screen in the back oof the conter console for the headphone jack and tuner.

Sounds like it, but they may have changed it recently. Mine work so that I don't have to listen to Finding Nemo or whatever game is being played. . . .kind of nice once you can get the kids to wear the d*mn things.

I know that if the wireless are used then the rear speakers aren't shut off. When a plug in head phone is used the stereo is only working on the front speakers. Kinda weird and not alot of bass. My little sis broke both sets and my father flips that he can't hear his stereo with the back speakers.

Why don't you send them in to get fixed. . . I know what he means about the front only. . it just sounds weird. . .like my Dad's old '79 pickup. . .
