Hello,
I am thinking about a tuner for my truck. I just want to gain some mileage but I was wondering if this tuner messes up the DIC readout for mileage?
I had a GM tune in my last truck and it really messed up the readout and did not increase mileage. I was told the superhip would increase mileage by 2 mpg. I have a 2007 LBZ and I am only getting 15 mpg and I have 7500 miles on the odometer, the DIC reads pretty accurate now and I want that to stay that way.
What tuner would you recomend that would increase mileage (with not adding gauges or hurting my truck) and leave the DIC accurate?
Thanks,
Larry

I am very happy with my SC 1805 tuner. I run on tow all the time, egts are safe, my DIC is right on in tow (off in higher settings). The trans sifts perfect in the tow setting, I don't like the defueling during shifts in the higher settings (common problem with all tuners?)

I have 21,000 miles now and I am running 15-16 normal driving and 17-18 on the hwy at 75-80mph all summer long.

We just took a trip to Michigan's UP driving 63 mph on US2 & 28 the truck got 20.3mpg, hand calc'ed.

The SC makes lots of low end power, it runs perfect.... oh yea, it hauls ass.

I remember when I was a ford guy and people would post on the ford board www.thedieselstop.com (http://www.thedieselstop.com) "I just got beat by a duramax, what happened"..... now I know what happened! :)

I've run the SuperChips 1805 on my 2006 LBZ Dually for about 6 months and it's been great. I have seen my best highway mpg's at 19.5 (hand calculated) while using the PERFORMANCE TUNE. The extra power and torque is cool while not overpowering the transmission.

I have been running this tuner for about 3 weeks now on an 07 classic. I wanted the tuner for tire size changes and I was hoping to gain back enough mileage/power to compensate for the larger size tires. I am running LT2657516E tires w/ the speedo corrected.

I am running on the tow mode for the same reasons listed above and feel like I have more power than stock w/ the factory tires. I can't really say much about the mileage, but I think it has helped some. My DIC is off by about .5 - 1 mpg, but this has not changed since before the tuner and tire size change.

I am pleased. Allot of people ragged on me for going w/ the superchips tuner, but for my purposes it seems to work well.

I have run a Flashpaq 2805 with the tow/perf tune for six months on my 06 GMC dually. The DIC has remained accurate, my mileage improved about 2 mpg, lots more power, Allison shifts good after a short learning time and the truck just sounds so much better. More fun driving, better mileage, what more can one ask?

I think your DIC will be off on any of the name brand tuners on the market. They trick the DIC through the reprogramming. I run the Hypertech, and have not had anything under 18 mpg City driving all summer long. On highway, hand calculated, 23.8 mpg from RI to Loudon, NH and back, loaded with 5 large adults, and gear. Don't worry about the DIC being off, just enjoy the extra power, and mileage gains. Hand calculate the miles and gallons to be exact!
