I have a 2004 2500hd LLY code with the mods below, the truck has 11,000 miles. On two occasions the transmission has lost all gears except drive. The first time was on the interstate pulling an 18ft box trailer(appox 5500 lbs.) in stage 3 with the Tow/Haul off. We stopped at a Chevrolet dealer, had the codes cleared and continued our trip(800 miles). The second time was also on the interstate empty also in stage three less than 1500 miles later. I haven't gotten fixed yet. Any ideas on stopping this from happening in the future? I was thinking of re-gearing the truck to "fool" the speed sensor into thinking I was running stock height tires.

Try correcting the speedometer with the tru-speed calibrator from superlift. I used it on my 03 8.1 w/ allison and now am now waiting to receive it for my 05 2500hd duramax. You can adjust it for any tire size and gear ratio. You can calibrate it with another vehicles speedo or use a GPS. Cost is around $200.

It also my understanding that the Tru-Speed doesn't correct the speed sensor for the tranny only corrects the speedometer. I'm also not 100% sure the larger tires are the cause of my transmission problems.

Could very well be the larger tires. I would also look at the NSBU switch on the side of the tranny and see if it is Brown or black. The new one should be Brown. They are SUPPOSED to all have the new switch but I have seen a few with the old ones. Would need to know what codes. With 11,000 on it the dealer should have FIXED it.

Your tire size had nothing to do with your problem. Next time bring the codes with you here so we can read them. I would guess you limped the Ally by hurting the torque converter. Does P0740 sound familiar? ( Torque converter clutch problem)

The dealer won't even touch it because of the bigger tires, they told me the same as everyone else, the tires are the problem and said my whole warranty was basically void.I haven't gotten any codes yet, still waiting on my Predator. It can be used as a scan tool right? Also does it recalibrate the speed sensor or just buffer the speedometer?I'm looking into transmission upgrades but still researching it.I'm kinda leaning towards a TTS converter and Suncoast stage III.
