I was just wondering if anyone has tried FABTECH'S lift kits. I have had a lot of problems with tuff-country, but I've heard fabtech has done a good job putting lots of iron :) in their lifts. Also, how are everyone's RCD's holding up. Thanks for any insight!! Hopefully my Duramax will be lifted by summer! http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/smiley4.gif

If you want 6" go RCD, if ya want 8" go Fabtech. I have installed alot of both and would not reccomend any other lift kit to anybody. I Love my RCD and have had ZERO problems. The only thing I ever had a customer come back for was because some of the original sway bar extensions would not hold up, but RCD redesigned them and everything is AOK! As far as I am concerned Fabtech and RCD are bulletproof. Get either one and you will be happy!!!http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/smiley4.gif

Thanks for the feedback guys. I've too heard lots of good things about RCD and Fabtech. I'm not sure If i'd go 8 for the simple fact I tow quite a bit, but my truck is also primarly used off road so I kinda want to have the best of both worlds http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/smiley1.gif The more I read and hear about RCD the more I like it. Anyway, thanks for the info guys!

Right on!! I was over at Winco last night gettin some groceries and beer! post a pic of your rig and I will definetly keep my eyes open! I just put some Super Swamper SSR's on my truck, I think I am the only rig around with them, so I am not hard to miss, especially with those tires you can hear me coming cause they really hum!!

There is another member over at WSU, his name is bowtiebob i think, anyways we are definetly growing!!! -Jeff

Ordered my Fabtech 6" lift and the upgraded steering components to go on as well. Had to also get the 5100 Bilsteins because they rock. Fabtech sales rep only took $50.00 off the kit without the shocks. HMMM, wonder what that implies about their shocks. Hopefully I'll be UP and running by Christmas.

Keep me posted hookem on how it works out, and I've too heard that those blisteins are the S@#t. Let me know how it all works out for ya!

I had a fab tech 6" on my 2002 8.1, its was the best at the time in my opinion, I'm not lifting my new 05 diesel, but if I did I think I would go with RCD. Both about the same for function, RCD looks alot nicer, several componets are polished including the bliestin shocks. Was not real happy with the fabtech shocks that came with the kit.

The 6" Fabtech lift adds about 2+ inches to the front track more with wider rims. the looks doesn't bother me. Just the truck is never clean. just a little water puddle and the whole side of the truck is muddy. I am not sure how much RCD adds to the width.

With my lift, I have had some issues with vibrationsand shudder, but i believe most of that is due to my two-piece driveline not Fabtech. (however, it would have been nice to know beforehand) My main problem is my Srub radius seems to be off. The angle difference between the two tires when turning at full lock. The outside tire srubs the pavement tearing it up our just leaving dark tire marks. Fabtech says they never hear of this before http://dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Confused.gif I find that hard to believe.

I installed the lift myself and everything went fine. I do remember having to shorten the tierods about a 1/4" on both sides to get the truck to the alignment shop. which i now believe is my problem. tie rod pulls the outside tire in too much and pushs the inside tire out too little. it bucks in loose dirt and gravel too. The lift components are good, guess its just my luck.

I am working with a couple of guys on this site too try to get it figured out.

biggest b*tch is fabtech is not willing to help me figure it out.

If i had to do it again i would go with the RCD, and I if had money to spare the CST for sure.

Take a look at the CST stuff. It drops everything down to keep the CVs inline. Best package I could find for an HD truck. A little more expensive, but worth the price. Find a dealer and take a look at the display, then look at the other kits and I think you'll see what I mean.

Good luck!

Interesting comments about the fabtech, thanks for sharing your experience with me! I look into the CTS lifts fur sure, but it sounds like maybe the RCD is the way to go. I'm all about function, I want this thing to hold up, I'm not real easy on rigs, I don't abuse, I just use. I just don't want the lift to be the weak spot on my truck. Thanks again.

I don't think you'll find anything weak about the CST lift. In fact, strength was the reason I chose it.

Its really personal preference, but when I was looking, people said good things about all of them, but there was always mention of the CST. I got the impression that most people would've liked to have had the lift, but settled for a cheaper one because it served their purpose and saved them some cash.

Just because it is a few buck more, when you see it, you'll know where the money goes. I figured I got a HD truck, I needed a HD lift, so why gripe about a couple a bucks.

It never hurts to check them out. www.californiasupertrucks.com (http://www.californiasupertrucks.com) is the website.

Jeff, I'd love to see that rig of yours sometime, I'm interested in the lift and some of the other mods you have listed. Hey CHISUZU, thats a pretty nasty looking rig on the home site of CTS huh??? That would be pretty entertaining, hey, do you have any pictures of the lift on your rig, I'd love to see how it looks. Thanks again for the link.

Lemme see what I can dig up. I'm embarrassed http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/smiley9.gif to say that most of the pics of my rig have been taken by other people. I keep meaning to take some for myself, but stuff comes up and I forget.

It's too dark outside right now for me to snap any tonight that would be of use to you, but if I can't find some on the computer when I get home, I'll snap some off tomorrow, upload 'em, and post for you to see.

Jeff-
I'll keep an eye out for you tommorow, I have class off and on during the day, and I live towards troy so i'll try to run into ya. Thanks for the link chisuzu, I really like what I see on the CTS site, a lot of the lifts are impressive, but not real pratical, although it would be nice!! There are some pics of duramax's on there with six's though, and I really like the way they look, and like you said they appear to be made pretty beefy. Thanks again and hopefully I'll see a picture of your ride http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/smiley4.gif . Have a good one.
