I recently changed the rims on my 2004 suburban from 16" rims to Factory chevy 17" rims from a 2004 Z71. The service tire moniter now stays lighted up on the odometer. Is there a reason for this and a way to get the message to turn off for good.

You will have to take it in for service. The old rims have a sensor in them and it reads on the onboard computer and the new rims are not allowing that sensor to work. Might be a way to disable the sensors, check the manual... Someone else will chime in with more info I am sure...

There is no way to disable the tire pressure monitoring system. It is a government requirement. You need the sensors from the original wheels but they probably won't fit the new wheels.

these sensors are the same size as a standard valve stem so they should work. The only problem may be wheel drop center depth, this is where the body of the sensor fits, but if it a factory wheel made in the last couple of years it will fit.
