Not long after I bought my DMax, I had a guy tell me the DMax's are "detuned" when new to protect the engine during break-in. After they get 70,000 miles the programming changes to improve performance. I thought the guy was smoking dope and just blew it off.

My truck now has 73,000 miles on it and the fuel mileage (hand calculated since it was new) has improved between one and two MPG and it's just been since it reached 70,000. I am amazed, was he telling me the truth or has the engine just gotten broken in? :driver:

Your engine is just getting broken in. There is no truth to that at all.

yeah he was FOS. Your truck was just getting broken in. Now there was someone saying that his truck improved mileage again at 150k miles. I don't keep my foot out of the floor long enough to notice.

The Guy is FOS.

Diesel's have a break-in period. Once they're broken in, they'll run 'forever'

That's the kind of thing's the class eight engine company's did many years ago they put in program changes that came into effect after so many miles total or so many hours on a run to beat the emission they got found out that's why for along time you could get a cheap overhaul if you did a package deal and they reprogrammed the computer. EPA also moved up the dates for the new emission schedule's as a penalty. PLAY SAFE!

Ignorance is bliss, read and learn it only took me a minute to find a news reference about what i said. I've been busy and you fit into my asshole rule. type in Caterpillar EPA fines on Google, you can find, EPA refuses to delay diesel rule, read it it talks about the justice department and the penalties. Ignorance is bliss and NATE seems to be a blissful kind of guy
