How much TranSynd should I purchase to reliably flush and refill the A1000 in my '04 HD? Also, what filter brand should I purchase. Does anyone know of the best place in North GA to get this at?

I've heard not to flush the tranny if you just pull the plug and change the spin on you should use around 8 quarts!!!!!!!:D

Buy a five gallon pail of transynd and a genuine ally filter. Do a search for 'Hoot Method' . . . transmission flush bad.

Local Allison dealer should be your first stop.

If you drain and refill a couple of times, you will be close to 100%.

NOT, please explain how two drain and fills will get anywhere close to 100%. There is just too much left in the T/C, cooler, and lines to mix each time.
Even 3 won't get as close as the "hoot" method does. And you will still have enough left from the 5 gal. to change the transfer case and a few future filter changes.

Think the manual says the system holds around 5 gallons. I bought 6 and had just over a gallon left.

"Flushing" is not necessary. Drain and fill takes 7.4 quarts. Get the filter from an Allison dealer, that way you get the real thing for much cheaper than anything else. Find them on the Allison web site.

Just curious why people are buying 5 gallons of transynd??? It doesnt require near that much, or does it???

If you do a total flush it does, well almost. With 5 gal you have just enough left over for a couple of filter changes. As for a Allison dealer in N Ga. I don't think theres one close to you. The closest one is over in NW Ga close to Chattanooga, Tn I think. I haven't been to it but remember seeing it on Allisons website.

Drain and fill takes 7.4 quarts.

How much more would I add if doing a deep pan too?
