since the search feature isnt working i guess ill just pose a new topic on this. what is the part number of the ac-delco lift pump? their website shows EP309 with a picture of a silver lift pump. Well there are two lift pumps on sale on ebay and one is silver in color with what looks like EP309 on the box and part #25117340. The other is gold in color and has EP1000 on and 15754298 on the box. They both say these are for 6.5's and they look like the right thing. I'm just curious about that gold one...........

steiner - the ep309 is the correct pump for 1998 and older 6.5 engines...the ep1000 is for 1999 and up....I don't have the specs to tell you what the difference is thoughhttp://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/smiley18.gif

Hmmmmm - gold plated and a new number, indicating 'new and improved!'........
Which means, empirically - it ain't!http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/smiley2.gif
Be good to know if volume and load pressure were increased, due to planned 6.5L output upgrade - which never happened.
Or, possibly the supply and delivery pipe diameter, and fittings, was increased a few tenths millimeter.

I just installed a Delphi pump. gmctd...I would describe the color more like Alchemy - An irisdescent, very fine shimmer that has a bronze glow. http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/hihi.gif
With the old pump I was reading 5 psi at idle and 1.5 psi under load. With the Delphi, I'm now reading 8.5 psi at idle and 3.5 psi under load.

Did you install the Delphi FP905? If so, I just installed the same and only have 6.5psi at idle. What gives?

I installed the FP905. Did you use an air or liquid pressure gauge? At pressures this low, I think that would matter.

Air filled 0-15psi gage, about 2.5" diameter. Measured from the petcock on the thermostat housing.

Wade,
What was your pressure at WOT? I think this would be the most critical of the two readings.

I have no idea. For one, I don't have a hose long enough to reach into the cab, and for another, I've never had my truck at WOT.
I think I'll just resign this one.

Thanks, all.
What's this statement about?
